I used to do 12 reps of most stuff but atm by trainer has me doing 15 reps and we aren't lowering any weights.

just finished what is probably my best session at the gym. I'm approx 4 weeks in and am starting to feel the benefit. Its obviously only small improvements but in all areas that I work on I'm better now than when I started.
I am pushing myself more and more which is pleasing as I do have a tendency to be a bit lazy. I'm just shy of a stone lighter so that obviously helps but I can run/cycle/swim further and faster and feel less tired after which is great.
I can see how people get addicted to the gym, the feeling is great after a good session, I sleep better and am less stressed at work!
My main weakness at present is on the diet side, I am not eating as well as I should, often going well during the week then over eating at the weekends, tbh I dont really mind this as my goal is not to lose as much weight as I can as quickly as possible, it is to make an improvement to my lifestyle.
I am thinking about introducing some weight training into my routine in a few weeks, won't be anything too drastic, just something to break up the cardio.
How are the big boys doing?
Nice one mate glad you're enjoying it, I'm a bit gutted that I never bothered training after I stopped playing Rugby when I left the forces. I absolutely love it and now I've managed to get a handle on all aspects of it I'm making some good progress. I tend to have a few trashy meals at weekends and too many sweets but in the scheme of things it makes no diff to normal people like us. I'm just about to have Fish and Chips tonight and will no doubt have a Dominos overdose tomorrow night
I can't do cardio so my hand is forced with regards to my training, if you're just trying to get fitter the cardio is perfect, if you want to increase your strength then throwing some weights around won't do any harm at all. You've already made some great progress thus far so are obviously eating and training well to drop a stone so quick so congrats m8
I'm down over a stone which is surprising given I am only lifting, another 20lbs to go before Vegas and I'll have achieved the target I set in Jan. I'm not gonna go all out on the diet though like yourself as I know from before that's how it goes seriously wrong. I lost a ton of weight not going out and eating 7days a week strictly. The rebound from that saw me pile it on over a few months so I think it's better to have the naughty stuff at weekends.

Dumbell press coming along nicely now. Would be nice to hit 40kg by the end of March and then it's going to be a slow grind up to the 50s.
I don't feel like a total newbie when I'm in the gym anymore, in fact the place is starting to feel like home.
Looks like everyone is doing well at the moment.
Don't worry too much about the diet Sov. I've done the strict thing before and it's over rated.
At the moment I'm training hard and getting stronger. If I want a kebab I'll have a kebab. It makes life so much easier to handle.
Keep up the good work everyone.

I can vouch for the fact that there is now't wrong with Matt's appetite.

Today i did 60kg bench presses, on my way to doing my own body weight of 80kg. Up from 50kg last week.
Did loads of chest and biceps, upped all the weights. You doing 50kg dumbell presses jsut blows my mind, i'm doing 50lb inclines and that feels real heavy to me.
I've got an injury so not doing any cardio which is gutting for me, i love footy and swimming. I'm feeling stronger than i ever have though.

This is my new routine following my first 6 weeks which has been purly cardio. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Please don't suggest sticking to cardio only as this is not an option. Some of the stuff I'm doing I don't know the official name for so done my best to guess!

Fine to call it that, I just call it the cable machine. Just sounded funny calling it the cable jungle.
I would just say that with some of the exercises on this machine, make sure you know what you're doing. For example, on your chest day, you have 'rope pull down's'. To me this could be anything from a shoulder exercise, to a usually tricep exercise. You can use the cables for loads of different things basically, just make sure you know what exercise you're doing.

Cable jungle is much more fun.
My mate helped me design it so I was looking for re-assurance. I broadly named things back, shoulders and chest and not really sure if working other areas by mistake is bad?
I'm new to this lark so just getting started.

The primary reason for doing split body parts ctv is because we can focus on working a specific muscle group and then give them ample time to recover.

Went in today for my gym weigh in and expected to have put a couple lbs on after Sundays hoovering. Hopped on the scales Friday when I did back so I could gauge how much I put on over the weekend when I eat shit. Quite pleasantly surprised to see I had put on less than 1/2lb after being a human dustbin most of Sunday. So sitting at 15st 3lb not quite 1/2 way through March, I should be hitting 15st 2 weeks early as long as I don't do anything stupid this week
Went training chest about 3 and was up on all lifts this week if not on weights by reps.
BB Bench 80kg
BB Incline 70kg
DB Decline 30kg
Maybe Hank Moody and 4 hours sleep is good pre training material idk.....
