You have a little man that bathes Ronnie for you?
WAL.
A little woman actually but the sentiment is very much the same.
I was talking about bathing the dog, not bathing you.

Slight digression not normally reserved for this thread how would would pronounce the above highlighted word?
'Bath'....ing
or
'Bathe'....ing
I take the two to have similar meanings but obviously can be different contexts. Without Googling it I genuinely don't know if there is a difference...

As in "baythe-ing".
Commoners would say "bathing".

That's what I thought you'd say although I thought there was a risk of "barth-ing".
Presumably you'd do your baytheing in a barth though?
I would pronounce it bath-ing with a hard 'a' whereas I would pronounce it your way if describing sun batheing.
My Grandad would have bathed in a bath, baythed in the sea and swam in his baythers. He wouldn't have known what a barth was.
So us commoners and you posh folk both share the word bathe but with different contexts and we have our individual words bath and barth.
I need to get back to gym stuff and maybe some pictures of fitties with weights. I could get stuck in these sort of convos for ages.

But when he's in kennels does he have to crap in his pen and does that affect his behavior at home after 3 weeks?
They get let out for half an hour for an off lead walk in the morning and again in the evening after their meals. Apparently Ronnie's never crapped in his pen apart from once when he had the two bob bits. He's probably stayed there getting on for 50 times in the last 8 years usually for no more than a few days, a couple of times for a week, once for 2 weeks and then the long stay whilst I was bad.
The pens are split in to two parts, an inside heated bit about 6ft square and an outside bit about 6ft x 12ft. He pisses all over the kennel I know that for sure. They've told me he's one of the worst for that and that he also rolls about in it a lot apparently. I can never tell because I always have him bathed the day I collect him.
The only change in his behaviour when he gets home is that he's knackered so sleeps for about a day and a half. It's as though he never left other than the tiredness which I assume is just down to not sleeping much because of all the other dogs.
To be honest his acceptance of the whole situation and especially his excitement whenever we go there makes it very easy to leave him. The staff where he goes are excellent, they love him to bits and he gets to play with their dogs in their field.
He gets a holiday at the same time as me
Exactly the info I wanted. Thanks Matt.
You're welcome Tom.
Were you just curious or are you considering kennels for yours and concerned about the affect they have?
Just curious Matt.
Dogs are naturally clean if they have the opportunity. I just wondered if dogs in kennels were given the chance to do their business outside their pen and if not, what effect, if any, it had on their subsequent behavior.
The pissing all over the place is obv a territorial thing because there are so many other dogs around.

Where on earth have the last few days gone!! Can't believe I've not been on here for a week but hey ho I clearly haven't!!
Training's still going fantastically at the moment. Managed a full 4 day week last week with reasonable weights for everything although nothing over the top.
It's been very good this week as well. Started with arms Monday, chest yesterday, shoulders today and then I'll be there tomorrow for back. Might even try to sneak in a cheeky little leg session on Saturday for a weekend treat.
So the dumbell challenge...... Well it went really well yesterday. Started with incline bench press as per the previous week and again managed a very respectable weight. On to dumbells and managed the following:
6th Jan 2015
24kg x 10, 28kg x 8, 28kg x 8, 28kg x 8
13th Jan 2015
26kg x 10, 30kg x 8, 34kg x 8, 34kg x 6
Very respectable results there and 34kg didn't feel as heavy as I'd expected. Fatigue kicked in at the end but I could maybe have squeezed a couple more out if my life depended on it.
I've not been pushing myself to failure every set as I'm trying to ease back in to this slowly. I've always been an advocate of training with high intensity rather than training for hours on end so that requires pushing yourself to your limits at every opportunity during that short session. I think I'll look to try to achieve that 'failure' starting next week. Might be in trouble after training on Monday!!
Feeling very positive at the moment not just with gym stuff but home, work and life in general.
Always nice to be happy

Sounds like you're back in the game Matt. Doing the same with my running after breaking my little toe. Such an innocuous thing, a little toe. But bloody hell, you soon realise how much you use it when it's broked.
What's your target? Just to get back to a level of fitness where you're happy? Or do you have an arbitrary goal you're looking at to motivate you?

What exact exercises are you doing on each day?
I've been trying to do a bit more weights stuff but there's no way I could do every day because pain so what exercises are you doing that you can work different muscles on different days?

Yes very much so!! Finished of a successful second week today with a back training session. Comfortabled did bent over rowing and also deadlifts which further show that I'm fully fixed.
I think you mentioned your toe when I saw you at the Levellers gig. It's amazing how long these silly little injuries can stay with you!! Good to hear you're back int he swing of it too.
I don't have any specific targets and I doubt I'll set any to be honest other than 50kg dumbell, 140kg bench press type things to be honest. The main thing is that my personal vanity requires me to be able to take my tee short off whilst on holiday knowing that I look in as good or better shape than other males of similar age.
I've got Vegas booked now for my 40th in June so if there's any risk of target setting it'll probably based around looking at my absolute best by then.
How about you? Any marathon plans?

How much can you squat? I've got quite into lifting over the last six months and I did my first 100kg+ squat this month. Not sure how that shapes up in the grand scheme of things but it's an amount I never thought I could do.

Sounds good mate. Forgot you're another hitting the big 4-0. Realised that I'm near sixty years old than my dad is. That makes you think!
Not got any marathons planned yet, but an doing the TR24 again in July. Somehow got to fit in the training with every thing else happening this year.
You at DTD this weekend?

Better keep pounding those weights big fella would be a shame for me to show you up by the pool. I would have to visit a pool first though but you never know six times a charm? it might happen this time...
