I think the whole campaign is a bit sad. I'd like more competition for Christmas number 1 but i'd like it to be done by more artists releasing songs that week and promoting them before Christmas. People going out of their way to buy a song that most either already had or never really wanted just seems silly.
Will anybody really be that bothered if Joe is number 1 on Sunday? I know my life will go on.
The public sure do pick their battles well.

1/ This could lead to artists challenging for No. 1 in future once they know X factor can be beaten
2/ Why the hell would you not have wanted this song in the first place, ive seen RATM 3 times now, they are one of the greatest bands ever!
3/ I will be gutted if RATM don't get No. 1, Ive bought the song 5 times this week!

Sales of RATM KITN are not sales lost by Joe Heterosexual. The 'war' between the singles ultimately leads to an increase in sales of both songs due to publicity beyond what they would normally get. I imagine.

you reckon? people aren't buying the xfactor song in order to get it to number 1, I'd have thought the sales would be pretty much the same with or without ratm being involved

Well the fight between the songs caused big publicity in the UK, but what prospective buyers would notice it here who didn't already know of it through XFactor (final had 13M viewers). RATM obv big Stateside, maybe it will bring publicity for Joe there, probably got some decent coverage that it would otherwise miss.

so it might get a few more sales but I'm pretty sure that's not the point people are making
they're saying that cowell wins as ratm are on sony, how does that benefit him?

How strange.
It's a very good campaign and good to see that people do care that the same old shite happens every year....but, It is a stange choice of song to go to war with. Basically thousands of people have been told to buy a record to campaign against being force fed X Factor rubbish every year with the chorus of
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
F you, I won't do what you tell me!
So basically they are fighting against conforming by doing what they are being told to do?
I don't get it

Been out in the pub tonight with my mate who works for the company who collate the charts.
The latest figures say X-Factor is ahead by just 300.

1/ X Factor can be beaten. Band Aid 20 sold something like 6 singles for every 1 Brookstein sold. Not even close. Before that Mr Blobby and Bob the Builder have been number 1. Where were the big artists then?
2/ Because it's rubbish. Music is subjective so i accept you think they are the greatest but this won't be everyone's opinion. I think some people will have bought it to get it to number 1 not because they liked it.
3/ I hope for your sake RATM have done it then. Have a Merry Christmas.

lol thanks for taking the time to reply, i know they ain't everyones cup of tea, and thats perfectly cool.
The fact that i love them so much, and never dreamed they would ever have a UK No. 1 makes this Campaign great for me.
