Hero has a very tight image today (WTF must be tired!)

villain in the hand is mike ellis who I percieve to be pretty solid, but not sure how he views hero since the only other time I think we played was in 5/10 game at the vic 3 months ago where I was crazy/aggro, but like I said today I've been noticeably tight.

We are 7 handed but the bb is dead. Hero has 10k and villain covers.

Blinds 75/150 hero opens  to 375 from early position, villain calls from sb.

Flop  villain checks, hero checks

turn  villain bets 700, hero calls

river  villain bets 1400, hero??

Yep I totally agree with this. Raising the turn makes no sense what so ever your hand is so under repped. Once you check the flop he could be thinking you dont have the ace and going on a double barrel bluff, or maybe he flopped a set bigger/smaller (A7/A2) 2 pair. Would he flat AK/AQ pre here and be betting for value if so raise the river and fold to a Jam as Royal said.

Flop is a fairly standard check, no? WA/WB with no draw to protect against and with tight image he is just going to c/f almost all his hands on flop...

Yeah I agree with that. I don't know why those guys are saying you should bet the flop. I'm tempted to raise the turn but villain's pot bet makes me think he doesn't have a hand that stands a raise from a tight player on a rainbow A-high board. Again on the river I don't know what hands pay your raise off if you do consider villain's turn pot bet isn't an A. Maybe villain binked 3 jacks.

think this is perfect v an older established pro (this line then raising river, probs a bit bigger than 4k imo so u can have more bluffs in your range), v anyone on a higher level bet the flop because we bet all our bluffs.....

Agree that hero will abs bet the flop if his intention is to bluff his hand. Standard bluff to rep the A when checked to on this board with rock image. But once hero checks the flop and calls the turn on a very dry board how can he be bluffing much when he raises the 1,400 lead on the river? That's a much more complicated, expensive and risky bluff imo. Would hero ever follow this line rather than bluffing the flop, or does he only raise that bet with a hand like the one he's got? So if the chances hero bluffs on the end are very small I don't see the value in raising to try and rep a bluff? I also don't see the sense in villain floating oop if hero does bet the flop so think checking works better.

I think you played it fine. Flop check induces turn bluff and controls pot. No obv draws to protect turn, and raise will likely see him fold a wide range of inferior hands, and play back better. May also induce river bluff. It's OK saying raise turn cos it makes no sense, but only if opponent is capable of seeing this and making a light call. He's 'solid', you've played 'tight'. Also means he'll just check-call riv. Raise riv looks like a hand, but think Mike'd call Ace anyhow, so raise and fold to jam.
