Just for the family to use really, browsing the net and playing poker. Occasional dvd watching.

Specs are very similar on the base level..obv u want the 17" screen... watch the dell when you personalise it as the price seems to rocket and be very careful with their warranty...

U dont need specific graphic card option unless ur looking to play games..particulary three diamonds ones
Toshiba a bit more expensive... but as you see from the price they have been discounted from they were a lot more than the dell.. theres a reason for this as the quality is superior...

I'm a great believer in you get what you pay for.... with Dell you do ( with the right deal) get good value for money ( bang for buck ).. with Toshiba u get the excellent quality and build with good manufacturers warranty...

me personally id always go Toshiba over dell even for that little bit more.

a spec of dual core ,2gbram, 250gb drive is plenty for standard use

Its a nice bit of kit..u may get the same sort of spec a bit cheaper but build and quality is where the extra money is..cant see u going to far wrong tbh.. but as with all things its just my own opinion..but as its what i do for a living it prob carries a little more weight..

Santa brought a laptop for my daughter.

Santa's helper @ pcworld was a dell rep he advised me to go for a HP @ £449 DV6-2110sa
Dell could not compete with this machine for the price so he said. I asked if he was commission based,
He said no salary. That did make me feel better. These commission based sales people say anything just
to get a deal.

OK quick guide..

Do not buy..

Asus
Acer
Packard Bell

Watch the so called Dell deals  as they seem to add up to a lot more than advertised....

Best buys ..Toshiba,HP,Lenevo (IBM)

 Spec isn't everything...

Our best seller... Toshiba L series...quality around £400..

Samsung don't look to bad..top of the 2nd tier imo

have had 3 lappies 1x HP and 2x Acer

The HP was a pile of shite, never had a problem with the 2 Acers though!!
