They will pay you that rather than fight it.

Why do people need to be warned to be careful on a slippy surface?
This mentality is why the country is in the mess it's in. Someone successfully sued our local authority after climbing a fence and falling into a pond on a wildlife reserve.
His argument? "The fence wasn't high enough to prevent me climbing over"
Wasn't there a case in the US where a woman sucessfully sued a furniture showroom because she fell over some children who were running about and injured herself and they were actually her own children?

Depends if the gym actually owns the car park.
I remember when working for B&Q that we didn't grit the car park or make any effort whatsoever to make it safe in icy conditions. The reason being it was owned by the council, making it their responsibility. The second we interfere we'd be liable.

And ther motorway signs - 'beware fog' annoy me. It its foggy we probably won't see the sign, if it isn't foggy we will see it, telling us something we don't need to know. Most intelligent human beings know what fog looks like surely? WTF?

the gym will have a liability - as the risk is forseeable the will 'own' the space by way of lease/licence/ownership and therefore be liable it is not an act of god there is def a claim as for whether you put one in - or realise that you were just a clown! Well thats up to you

Not as annoying as those who put their fog lights on when there's a slight mist and everyone can comfortably see the cars in front of them without being blinded by an unnecessary fog-light. These same people then forget to switch the light off for about 3 weeks.

Or people who put fog lights on when it's raining. if you want to ensure I run into the back of you put your fog lights on in the rain - then I will be constantly dazzled by your lights and when you brake never see it and run into the back of you. Jeeze Louise. Best driver by far on the forum is Andrew T - never had an accident.

He wants (or should I say the utter shitster lawyers) want 3k lol, see you in court gonna rinse this as long as possible and the wife will defend me.

because sometimes you wont know its slippery perhaps Of course, and sometines they won't know it's slippery. That doesn't make them responsible for you.

what mess is the country in plz?
In the kind of mess where kids are not allowed to run in playgrounds. Where teachers have to wear protective glasses to write on blackboards (Except you aren't allowed to call them blackboards) Where you can't take a camera into a nativity play. Where you are held responsible for your kids behaviour, but you're not allowed to smack them. Where I can't pick up litter in my village because I don't have insurance....

for the record i wont be sueing, simply because i wont actually be suffering any financial hardship out of it. i wont lose any earnings, so i dont see what i could possibly claim for.
i do think though it is reasonable to expect the gym to take care of its customers by doing their best to grit the walkways (properly) and other parts of the car park. there was evidence that a cursory attempt had been made, but it was obviously totally inadequate. considering that most visitors to a gym are going to be carrying a bag of some sort means that their balance isnt going to be perfect.
and yes, i do feel a bit of an idiot.
