I noticed yesterday in the "latest news" section of the DTD website that they are having an appeal for people to donate their old footie shirts for under-privileged kids in the Townships in South Africa which is in conjunction with the upcoming World Cup this summer. All you have to do is turn up and hand then in at reception when arriving at DTD.

Well by coincidence, (and there are a few here) I have a couple of my old Arsenal shirts that weren't doing much other than loafing idly in a drawer somewhere and I sensed an opportunity to make a sacrifice to the footie gods and possibly invest in a little good karma as by coincidence(I told you) Arsenal were playing Liverpoo away yesterday, and were in need of any help going as we currently have a team comprised mainly of chimney-sweeps and cat-burglar's apprentices. Not only that but coincidentally(!) I was about to play a satellite for the Monte Carlo and considered that possibly the Poker gods might take kindly to this selfless act of sacrifice too being as how it was at Europe's finest poker venue.

Things were not looking good when Almunia flapped and presented the poo with a half-time lead and nor was it looking good when I went down to about 10k in chips with around 30 left in the satty but fortunately both sets of gods smiled, Arshavin got the winner, I never had to show a hand down, and managed to garner a seat for The Monte Carlo.

Let's hope that there's a little more karma left in the tank for both Arsenal and me, and that The Gods continue to smile.

Write more tales Ralph, you have a gift for story-telling, & write so beautifully.

To be fair, any written piece "reads" 100% better if it's properly presented, with paras, punctuation, & them oldey-fashioned things like full stops & commas. The internet & text messaging is destroying - has destroyed - written Engllish in so short a time - less than 20 years?

You've obv never tried to persuade a man to part with any piece of clothing in his wardrobe then?! It can be 20 years out of date, tatty and the wrong size but a man will never throw it out.

Mens attitudes towards women is slightly different, if she's 20 years out of date, tatty and the wrong size she's out quicker than he can say 'hello darling' to the next one!! :-)  Roll Eyes
