We're in day 1 of the DTD £300 monte carlo side event. 10k chips, 45 min clock, same structure as on the deepstack weekend. 99 runners and about 30-40 remain. Blinds are 300/600-50

Table has certainly been an interesting one as it's holding me, Greekstein, EvilPie and ChipRich.

So, I'm UTG playing just shy of 30k and look down at two nines. Sweet. So I raise to 1525.
I then get 3 callers.
Rich then shoves from the button for about 17k.

And it's back to me...

I don't think I've played with rich before and was actually somewhat suprised by his playstyle. He played a tigher game than I was expecting. That said, cos and matt were playing silly buggers all the time so this is probably wise lol. There was a previous hand where I doubled him up in the same spot. I raised UTG with 44 and called his shove from the button. I can't remember his exact hand here. It was some sort of Ax as I remember. We were racing at any rate. There were no limpers in this hand and the shove was for much less.

So, what do you do?

Fold.

Wait for a Cos raise and an Evilpie button 3 bet or peel then shove your SB with Q high cus you're miles ahead of both their ranges.

Weren't you watching Smiley

meh, pretty close spot imo.

What did he have when you called with 44? It's quite a big shove, what were the blinds? I'm assuming 300/600, I think hes making it looks like a big squeeze, im not sure what he does with QQ+ here, it really looks like 1010/AQ/AK, if he made it like 4.1k I dont mind 4bet shoving because he can be squeezing light off the btn, but I guess it's a "sigh fold". The table seems pretty wild, and should be pretty easy to accumulate chips rather than calling this shove.

I don't he's shoving too much that you dominate cos he may just set mine for the price the pot would be laying him. It depends on how often he's bluffing here to iso shove.

I probs fold here but agree it is very close

i prob call here - if rich has seen what you have seen  - he only needs to get you to fold to add 30% to his stack

he generally plays tight - but he is capable of making moves and knows when to. I dont think he is doing it too light (not like 73o) - but he has a very wide range and you still have 20bb's if you lose

Rich had been playing kinda snug all day so it wasnt straight forward but it looks like such a squeeze. Having said that your range was pretty tight all day so I wouldn't expect Rich to ship too light when you open UTG.

I do a cointoss in my head here I think but I prob sway towards call.

The way the table's been playing I can't see why Rich would put you on a bad hand.

You've got a very active Cos to act after you and a BB who will defend and put you to the test so you need to have something.

That being said Rich knows that if he flats here the BB calls as well so he's in a 3 way pot. I don't think he minds this with a premium pair so I sway him more towards AK and AQ here as it looks like he wants to be HU or just TID.

If you fancy your chances at a flip then call otherwise fold because I can't see you being ahead.

he is in great shape to be flipping here with 4500 dead in the middle against the effective 17k shove - if he showed me a coin toss id call all day

being a results orientated nit i would suggest that whatever he decided to do was the right move.
