I'm trying to uninstall AOL from Mrs Red's lappy.

I've uninstalled in in "Add and Remove Programmes" but it's still there, it's just not listed in Add & Remove any longer.

If I click the AOL icon on my desktop, the programme still loads, and if I do a search for AOL it finds the programme, but it won't let me delete it, instead it directs me to Add & Remove, (Where it's no longer listed)

If you need to free up space on your computer or are having problems with the AOL software, you may need to uninstall it.

Note: Ensure you have an AOL CD or a downloaded copy of the setup file before you uninstall so you can reinstall the software.

You may wish to print these instructions before you begin:

Uninstall the AOL software

To uninstall the AOL software, take the following steps:

1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
2. Select Classic View from the panel on the left.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features.
4. In the installed programs list, click AOL Uninstaller and then click Uninstall/Change at the top.
5. Click Search for Other Versions of AOL.
6. Wait while the uninstaller searches for versions of AOL on the computer.
7. Select the versions of the AOL software to be removed and click Uninstall.

Notes:
If you do not see the version of AOL you wish to uninstall on the list, click on the Search for older versions of AOL link on the bottom left of the screen.

If you are using AOL 8.0 or below and have downloaded files or saved email in your Personal Filing Cabinet you wish to keep, make sure the Downloaded Files and Personal Filing Cabinet checkboxes are ticked. If ticked, these files will be copied to your desktop.

8. Click Yes to confirm.
9. When AOL has been uninstalled, click Restart.

this is not a C&P its from my head.

Regards

M

Try what again Sandy?

I'm trying to remove a programme that is no longer listed in Add & Remove, Will closing down connectivity cause it to be listed?

I remember my techy bloke telling me that aol was virtually indelible once installed.
