we both played event 1, which was a $1k nlhe repechage comp, which is kinda unique in format in that all players who bust day 1a and 1b can rebuy in on day 1c. so yeh gg $2k on a $1k comp!
day 1a didnt last very long for me; my table was v soft so i was more than disappointed when my TT<K3o aipf (lol) and then A9o<QJo aipf. to be fair the tournament structure didn't allow for an awful amount of play early doors and with the players well aware they could rebuy on saturday it promoted quite a gambly mentality on my table. finally i picked up KK with 16bb in the bb but QJo rivered two pair and i would have to try again on saturday to have my second shot at the $1m+ prizepool.
day 1a my table was very soft and i didnt recognise anyone. day 1c was a completely diff story... i had roberto romanello and sorel mizzi on my table, as well as some young australian poker hotshot i didn't know and a young scandi who was friends with sorel and very aggressive himself, fml! within the first 5 mins i slowplayed KK and managed to trap the young aussie and get paid off nicely on the river board reading 356TQ, so i was upto 17k weeeeeeeeee.
then sorel crushed my soul
i c/r AQ on KJ2ss and fold to his river overbet, he had...AQ! i pay him off with JJ on A927K vs his KK! the guy is so good its scary. i thought the gods where shining on me when he was all in pre flop for his tourney life with QQ vs an old guy's KK within the first 20 mins...but when the river binked the Q he just smirked and then proceeded to terrorise the table! meanwhile the scandi disposed of romanello and tried to win every pot sorel didn't. when he iso'd a limper i had plans to play most hands in position vs villian so black tens were more than enough for me to 3bet. unfortunately for me we had to say gg when his AQ got there.
today is the $550 nlhe comp played on the pokerpro computer tables, so it's like playing online in a live setting! haha
oh and as salamander said we enjoyed many a vbull on friday night with his canadian poker friend (jadedjason online). tilting story...after getting ko'd from day1c i went over to salamder's table to wish him luck,he was sat next to salty joe hatchem.... who proceeded to hit a straight flush while i stood there. he sits there in silence as he rakes the pot listening to his ipod, then takes his earphones out and tells the table "i havent hit a straight flush in months" before quietly putting his earphones back in and not saying another word ASDFGHJKLASDFGHJKL
