The figure is right, and that's without working out how much extra money I'm losing by going out instead of playing. It isn't all just on drink, I burn money on lots of things.

Like what if you don't mind me asking.

tbf if you eat out every night of the week at nice places its almost 1k, once you've spent some on betting, nights out, random gym memberships and other stuff it can easily get to 2k.

if you are spending 2k which is obviously alottttt, it is very very hrd to budget down to 400 and your poker may suffer as a consequence as you are not enjoying life and thinking of it as a grind. one of the reasons you chose to play more poker and take time off work was because u preferred it and thought it would enhance your life, if you cant make enough in the year to continue your life in the same way and improve your life (i.e go travelling for a long time) then I would probably give a later date to do the travelling.

Hope that doesnt sound like a cuntish thing to say, think you're a top top guy and way you approach life/money atm is def ftw imo.

See pads' post (except the gym part obv).

It will be very easy to budget down and my poker won't suffer as I love playing and have been a bit of a mug so far this year anyway, before I changed to cash last month my average amount of playing days per month had been 5 days, that's ridic. I want to improve, when I was playing 45mans I didn't think I could improve much more than where I was at, cash games though I have a load to learn and I'm enjoying doing so, I love learning, I'm much more motivated to play now and I want to grind. I won't be any less happy, and in a years time I'll have a sick trip to go on. I intend to book the flight up within the next month or so then I know it's happening and It'll motivate me more to save. Loads of people work and spend all there time just saving to go on a 2 week holiday, mine will be for a year.

I ended my session early today as took a ridic amount of coolers for one day. Had KKvQQv1010 aip for 280bbs board comes xxxxQ Sad. Ran AQ into AK vs a fish who peeled my 3b oop and flop came Axx got it in on the turn, then straight afterwards a reg 5b jams on me, btn v co with AQss, I snap with QQ, he rivers the flush. The same person I ran AQ into AK with, I turned nut flush on JJxK board, he obv has KJ, wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Overall only down 2 bi's as I had been up a bit, pretty frustrating though, would be nice to get a run of a couple decent sessions together. Back on it tmoro and over the weekend so will hopefully run better.

Get some/all of your trip kinda planned and booked m8. If u book a flight to and from somewhere for example. Then it feels more real, like yeah, im actually gonna do this. Gives your grind more purpose if u get me. It made me feel a million dollars when i deffo knew i was going away long term on various trips. Its excitng, gives you a buzz. Smiley

sort them out whilst travelling m8. you meet sooo many people and feed off each other. When i went to Oz with my mate we had a hostel booked for a wk then things took care of themselves from there. People will tell you what is hot and what is not. It took us about 2 or so wks to really get into the groove. Then we had a story to tell people like where we had been so far, what we had seen, reccomedations by people etc etc. Your story obv grows as you get into your trip as does your confidence to chat to any old random people. Were all in the same boat at the end of the day and all have one massive thing in common. Were eager to get knowledge from each other. You help them they help you.  Hostels are a mixed bag btw. Most are pretty gd, some avergae. you rarely get an awful one. word of mouth, check hostelbookers.com etc. I wouldnt go booking a hostel for longer than 3 or so days just incase u hate it there for any reasons. It would be pretty easy to extend your stay if u wanted. We done that numerous times on the last day. yeh im on skype. cant think what my user is thou. amatay1 maybes? ill have to download it. ask any questions u want m8. glgl

On a pretty regular basis I get an idea in my head of summit I want to do and invariably I don't do it for one reason or another. I certainly am not the type who wants to do so something but doesn't, if I could, just mostly the ideas I have take a lot of money lol. For instance as most ppl prob know I wanted to go to Vegas so thought fk it I'll get a loan, why not, imo. Anyway, ever since I was about 12 I've wanted to go travelling round the world, this is something I've been thinking about again recently for quite a while and I've decided I am going to do it. I'm 25 now and have no ties so I think if I don't do it now there's a possibility I might never get the chance to.

One thing that I'm slightly apprehensive about is that I'm a bit of a social retard ( think it's ok to use this word when I'm talking about myself). It's something that I've discussed itt before so I don't want to just repeat what I've already said once plus it's pretty hard for me to explain what I mean for the simple reason I don't really understand it myself. I'm genuinely a pretty confident person... ... to save me waffling on for ages here, lets just leave that point at that otherwise I'll be here all day. The thing is I'm not sure if it'll be possible for me to enjoy this sort of trip if I don't socialise well with strangers, however, I say that but when I go play live poker I always try to get the banter going at the table etc, it really is pretty hard for me to explain this but it isn't just me being paranoid. Anyway, I decided that I will do it and if I do struggle and don't enjoy it then what does it matter, I'll just come home.

So onto the actual trip. I plan to go for about for a year but there isn't a neccesary time limit on it, I'm a bit of a noob to all this though and I'm hoping that with all the experience a ton of blondes have on here that I can get a ton of advice on the following, how much money I should look to save to do it ? places I should look to visit ? I want to spend around 3 months in America & Canada, I also want to go to Australia and New Zealand, other than that though I'm all ears. I currently have around 3k debt which I should have wiped within 1-2 months, then I will start saving towards the number, my outgoings and expenditure are going to be really small so I'm expecting to be able to save up a decent amount, quickly, plus I have a decent sum of money due to me in the next year or so, the hope is to have reached the number by next summer. I will definitely be doing this and would appreciate any tips and advice, thanks.

If it makes any difference to your thinking I was fairly shy at your age. I did a ton of travelling between the ages of 22 and getting hooked up wife a bird/wife in my late 20's. At least half of that travelling was on longer trips on my own and I can 100% say that it helped develop me as a person and socially to bring me out of my shell.

100% do it mate, you may not get another chance again. I'm addicted to it now, but its a positive addiction  Smiley

All of this...Amatay reply significantly more thought through than mine...I used hostelworld just to book ahead on the road for a few days if I didnt have a reccommednation and was on my own.  One thing I would say...maybe it's because I was older, but I found the smaller, more boutique hostels easier for meeting people than the big f*** off ones like Wake Up etc in Oz...I'm back home from the old man Ray so send me Skype name again I'll add you too

Firstly deffo do it, travelling is the stone cold nuts. I did 6 weeks on the West Coast of the USA on my own for the majority of it and it was fine, though I am fine with my own company. Certainly over there I found just rocking up at any bar, you could get a conversation going the majority of the time and I am normally pretty socially awkward with people I don't know.

Money wise depends how much you want to slum it/restrict yourself. I am a bit of a hotel snob and not a fan of public transport (especially buses) so that costs a bit extra. Also a hire car gives you so much more freedom and options.

I am planning on doing various trips in the next couple of years, deffo Aus/NZ so would be up for the possibility of a joint venture if you fancy.

Sounds good, I should have my laptop sorted tmoro so will be back on msn so will give you a nudge. The hotel thing is in interesting point, I talked to Amatay a bit about it and he said hostels etc are fine and good way to get to know people, obv I won't be staying in hotels for a year as that would be too expensive, sigh that I'm a huge fail at driving.

Hostels = instant drinking partners in the main  Smiley

I don't do hostels now really, but at your age/stage of life its perfect  thumbs up

Agree with Claypole that you meet more peeps in smaller hostels than the biggies. Also when your in cities the hostel will usually be abit more dirty lol. Its just there are more busy and more traffic going thru day by day. Amatay91 on skype btw
