Going to post in here again for a bit, but not poker related.

I'm going to attempt a few things to improve my health as I'm sick of being sick basically. Always getting man flu and just never really feeling 100% is pretty demoralising and my ridiculously unhealthy lifestyle can't be helping, that said I don't really drink much anymore but I eat poorly, do no exercises or do basically anything productive for my health.

This isn't a diet, I won't be posting my starting weight, I won't be looking to lose three pounds a week, that's not what this is about.

I will post every single thing I put into my body, and hopefully some of the pro's from the weight loss thread will pop in here and give some helpful advice (didn't want to clog up that thread with a ton of posts). I'm sure people will be sceptical as I've made these types of posts before, but hopefully when you see I'm actually putting some effort in I'll hopefully get some good feedback to help me with this.

I'll post at the end of each day what I've had to eat and drink that day.

I'm also going to do the sit up and press ups challenges as a start to getting some exercising done. I don't plan to go out running or going to the Gym but open to any exercises I can do at home that will improve my fitness levels.

http://hundredpushups.com/ - I managed to do 5 press ups, wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

http://www.twohundredsitups.com/ - Managed 18 sit ups which ain't much better lolz.

I choose these just because I was aware of the popularity of the challenges so assume they are worthwhile. I will update how this goes also.

Confirmed this isn't an April fools Smiley

GL me.

trouble with these muscle endurance things is bad joints. what do you do when you get a stabbing pain in your elbow for example, work through it or give up til it gets better? you prob need to stretch, foam roll and do mobility exercises just to prehab yourself enough to prevent injury.

having said that would much much prefer to do 100 bodyweight squats than 200 situps.

http://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-to-squat-properly/#axzz2wlkgDXQB

got stairs? could run up, walk down etc

good luck

3   Loyd Grossman Tomato & Chilli Sauce 350G
1   Pg Tips Pyramid 240 Teabags 750G
1   Dolmio low fat/salt Bolognese Sauce 500G
2   Make your own garlic bread on wholemeal bread 260G   (so easy)
2   Loyd Grossmanlow fat Bolognese Sauce 425G
1   Walkers Ready Salted Crisps 6X25G get rid of or have something like kettle chips
4   Chewits Xtremly Sour Apple Stick Pack
1   Tesco Whole Roast Chicken
1   Tesco 12 Yorkshire Puddings 230G
1   Jacob's Club Orange Chocolate Biscuit 8 Pack 181G get rid of
1   Tesco 8 wholemeal Tortilla Wraps
2   Tesco Fresh Mash 500G   make your own sweet potato mash
4   Sharwoods Chicken Tikka Masala With Rice 375G   so so so easy to make your own basic curry. use brown rice, and you can make it as spicy or mild as you like
1   Tesco Pork Chops 620G
1   Mccain Mexican Wedges 750G
1   Tesco Winter Vegetables 480G
1   Rowntrees Pastille Sours Sharing Bag 165G
2   Tesco Pickled Sliced Beetroot 340G
1   Youngs Jumbo Whole Scampi 220G
1   Dolmio Meatballs Sauce Tomato & Chilli 500G   buy normal tomato cooking sauce and chuck in some lean minceballs from the fresh meat section unless you fancy makin your own
1   Ragu Tomato & Chilli 400G
1   Tesco Everyday Value Hot Salsa 300G
2   Tesco Big Night In Sweet Kickin Chicken 12" Pizza 535G
2   Tesco Big Night In Indian Bombay Potatoes 250G
1   Tesco Finest British Beef Steak Burgers 454G
1   Tesco Chicken Mini Fillets 350G
2   Tesco Homestyle Crinkle Cut Chips 1Kg   try get the 'fat cut' chips
1   Tesco 4 Steak Pies 620G   absolute shit. just don't eat!!
1   Tesco Finest 10 Traditional Pork Sausages 667G
2   Tesco Roast Potatoes 450G
2   Tesco Homestyle Rustic Cut Oven Chips 1Kg try making your own chips? so much crispier and nicer!
1   Tesco Beef Mince 750G splash out on lean/extra lean

The main reason people fail on things like this is because they try and go from diet revolving around a sofa, pizza and 6 buds, to, gym 7 times a week and smoked mackeral and steam brocolli for dinner every night. I think the simple excercise goals you've set yourself are achievable and more importantly, realistic, if going to the gym isn't what you motivates you.

I have highlighted in red (I think) some small changes you can make to your diet that shouldn't be too hard, but is a start towards a healthier diet. then after a while start trying to cut out the sweets and crips in stuff, have some cottage cheese or porridge, pepsi max etc when you want a little sugar kick.

And again start trying to ease out the pizzas, frozen fish stuff etc and just replace it with more natural and organic food. Getting a bit of plaice or something and just grilling it I promise will taste 100x nicer and healthier

Cheers for the input.

Dropping crisps will be very easy, I basically only just started buying them after reigniting my love of dips, sweets not tough either.

I did the shopping pre any solid ideas of getting healthy, no issues with buying low fat products.

I tried grilling a piece of Sea bass once, it ended up in the bin after being completely stuck to the pan, oops.

I am a big fan of pizzas tbh, at least these aren't frozen

Cheese is another issue of mine, abs love cheese, eat a lot of it, and bread.

If you can cut out crisps and sweets etc the that's really good.

Also fresh pizza is indefinitely more healthy then the frozen ones. If you can get round to making your own then even better!!

As said with the fish, just stick it in some foil and bung in oven, tastes great and no mess or washing up!!

Seems like you have a very carbs based diet, like most people. Well you will never get ripped with a 6pac, itS not particularly that bad for you. Just change from white bread, plain rice, pasta etc to whole meal stuff where possible. And preferably try to give yourself a couple hours between your last carb intake and sleep.

As a poker player who would/will require stamina, all these sugary sweets, drinks etc people eat pre and mid grind are so bad. Yes they might  give you a short term energy boost (~20mins), ou will feel more tired after. Not to mention your body can grow an intolerance to the energy boost and its so bad long term. Far better off having a banana or something!!

Improving Stamina/Energy levels is exactly what I'm trying to achieve, no interest in a 6pac or muscle toning at all.

For drinks are you referring to tea ?

No I meant like fanta, coke, redbull etc. was meant as more as a general comment then aimed at anything you had put in your diet.

Tea is fine, ideally with no sugar. If you can't drink it like that then natural honey > sugar. Even better is green tea, which also gives you energy and has natural fat burners in it!
