has anyone seen breaking bad? wondering whether to bother, I've heard it's ok ish

Not too keen on it myself, this fella thinks its ok though...

"It's better than 'Lost,' better than 'Dexter,' better than 'Rescue Me.' It's even better than its highly-praised AMC schedule-mate 'Mad Men,' despite the fact that Matt Weiner and company put together a stellar third season last year. And it's not even close."

The Walking Dead - Having now seen all of season 1 have to say it was just ok, expected a lot more, very cliched predictable characters a lot of the time...hopefully season 2 will pick up a bit...

I loved it. Only thing I do concur with is there is nothing special about the characters yet, they are all decent enough but nobody stands out whereas most of the great shows these days have great characters. However I think it has been very scary, kept a very steady pace and didnt get stale (there is only so much you can do with zombies and they havent laboured that point at all) and has really left me wanting more. 6 episodes seems way to small and I assume this was a pilot season as much as anything, I think there is plenty of scope to open up in series 2.

No decent crumpet in it though Sad

Why do the season villians tie up Dexter and not expect him to escape...becoming way too easy for Dex these last two seasons, hopefully a bigger challenge for him next time, and Lumen Gtfo!!!

Douglas Adams's holistic detective Dirk Gently arrived on BBC4 tonight

A one -off episode at 9pm was a great success.

It follows the same humour as Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy.

Adapted for TV by the Missfits writer

Its on I player for the next 7 days

TP did meander a bit in season 2 (when David Lynch didn't really have anything to do with it) but it picks up towards the end when he came back on board. Still worth watching though. The movie was a prequel and I think it's great, though it's more disconnected from the TV series than a lot of people were expecting (different actress playing Donna, for one) hence why it got a bit of a bashing on release.
