hi all, I know it's just unlucky but wanted opinions on whether pre-flop I played this wrong..

playing £55 f/o, 45 min clock, deepstack (10k starting stack) student tourny at g casino.

68 runners, 2 day event. down to last 30. I've just moved tables and played 3 hands, winning 2 (pf raise) and folding one to a cb re-raise. table mostly TAG's. Blinds 200/400 (25), level 6.

UTG+1 raises to 1300
UTG+ 2 calls

me:

sb: call

bb: call

I call because at this stage I'm not prepared to call the all in if UTG+1/2 decides to push. bad play? raise to 4k?

anyway flops comes:

happy days, goes check check, I bet 2300 (thoughts on size)

sb fold, bb thinks for a minute then ships (50BB!+). Fold, fold, insta (all in) call from me (I have around 16k)..he has  and hits  on turn. I know its unlucky but

a) should I have re-popped pf
b) bet size on flop?
c) his ship is bad play on his part right?

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

personally, i would have bet a bit more on the flop, but it didn't make any differrence because they were all going in anyway. just unlucky imo.

I would just ship preflop, there is already about 3.5k in the middle after the raise and the flat. Meaning any 3bet commits us to the hand anyway. This is all assuming utg+1 isn't an uber nit.

His flop ship >> your flop bet.

5 handed + reasonably wet board should not mean we bet a third of the pot. The only advantage is that it under reps your hand which is great if your opponent happens to be thinking above level 1 but not beyond level 2. However, if he's thinking above level 0 but not beyond level 1 then we're overrepping our hand.
Betting is cool, but bet for a decent amount. 6.5k in the middle, I'd be looking to get in 4-6K.

His flop ship is fine given that there's a bunch of wonga in the pot and it makes all hands except set and AT fold. If called he's massively behind nothing.

As said above though, hand plays out exactly the same whatever you bet on flop. (3 betting pre ftw!!)

Is it possible to rep anything to someone who's thinking at Level 1 - that's what Level 1 means innit? How can we overrep a set of 10s in any case?

That sentence was meant to be somewhat incredulous, the point being we should play abc against 4 students which on the flop here means a decent sized bet.

I'd 3 bet pre and fold to a 4 bet if villian who's opened re raises. Cooler as played

3bet/folding is really bad, as you are getting 2 to 1 ish and you are 2 to 1 against ak, jj+.
