stockport had a season or 2 in the top flight late 90s

The top flight is now the 2nd tier of english football?

He played in both for Shelbourne.

But I do accept the BBC article has some factual inaccuracies possibly.   

Did he play in the top flight on loan at Notts County 1st Prem season?

I think the BBC thing should say 'played for' and not scored perhaps.
