Lewis Morton Monaghan is OUT  got it in with 44 and ran into Kevin Kirby with QQ

despite the board of 3 5 6 A, Lewis missed the outs on the river and departs stage left.

Martin Jarvis, aka Pelham Boy is involved in a big hand with Nathan Watson.

With the blinds at 300/600 and antes of 50, it's folded round to Martin in middle position.  He raises to 1,700.  Nathan Watson calls and it's left to those two to battle it out.

Flop:

Martin has about 10K back and bets 3,600.  Nathan has Martin comfortably covered.

Nathan, almost imperceptibly, announces all-in without any movement of his chips or his hands.

Martin dwells for a good minute or two and eventually decides to put the rest of his stack in.

Martin =
Nathan =

Nathan is a 55% favourite as we see the turn and river.

Turn

River

Martin manages to avoid all the bullets, and doubles through to 22K.

Nathan has to lick his wounds and restacks his remaining 20K into neat stacks.

Me and Kev are a little peckish after hours of hard graft.  He orders two steak baguettes from the valet.

Richard Wootton (aka dik9) turns to me and says "Dan, aren't you having anything?"

Manuel Stan sees his large stack grow even further as he puts Shane Dewsbury all-in with a re-raise, and then all-out on the flop.

Martin Jarvis goes from strength to strength with his own brand of observational poker.

Not noticing an all-in raise from a short-stack, Martin announces raise from the cut-off.  Fortunately, everyone else folds and we have a showdown.

Poker is all about timing, and focused aggression.  Here is a textbook example, from our own Matt 'PieMan' Russell.

With a stack of 28K he raises from UTG+1 with the mighty 98o to 1,050.

Two callers.

Flop

Two Clubs

Matt leads out for 2,200.

Button calls, and the BB passes.

Turn

Check - check.

River Two Diamonds

Matt bets 3K and is raised to 8K.  Obviously not able to win if it goes to a showdown, Matt can't call - and can either fold or re-raise.  Going for the aggressive option, he pumps it up to 14K, only to see the button move all-in.  Matt quietly folded, and the button turned over two spades two hearts.  Quads.

We're now on 400/800 with an ante of 100.

28,500 is the average stack with 85 players remaining.

Bad news for Maureen.

Matt Russell runs AK into AA 2nd hand back after the break and now he's playing with his ball, and he's off home.
