brill game and Davis showed a few of the young guns how to win a frame without trying to pot every ball on every shot. Get 40 in front and then put as many balls safe as you can.

 A joy to watch.

Yeah gripping stuff.  Cant see him having a sniff against Higgins but he looked like he enjoyed last night as much as any of his 6 titles.

Looking like Robertson/Higgins in the quarters as they face Gould/Davis in last 16...  Really hopeful Robertson has the bottle/game to play him over 25 frames...

But lets get there 1st

Steve Davis is an abs LEGEND.For the game to mean that much to him which it visibly did when it's a 1st round match and he's won the title that many times, inspirational stuff.

We could do with Higgins being knocked out, still doubtful, but great to see Davis playing well.  Got a feeling this afternoon's session could be 7-1/6-2 Higgins as he rarely doesn't produce when he really has to.

Robortsen should stroll past Gould, 13/6-13/7, if Gould beats him over 25 frames all credit to him.  He's down to 7's in most places so can't say I never gave you the chance to trade out.  Cheesy

Probably be 6's after that game, but IF Higgins went he could be as short as 4's.

Davis is a legend, he did an exhibition at my old man's club back in '95. The snooker was top drawer and the banter was even better. His fee was meant to be £7500 +vat which is a lot of money today never mind 15 years ago. Terry Griffiths had done an exhibition the year before and told Steve how nice the club and the place was. He agreed to do the exhibition for £2500 and it was probably the best one we ever had.

Afterwards he was chatting with all the guests about Snooker, life and everything inbetween. Someone asked him the best title of all the ones he had won. His response was the Regal Welsh Open that year. We were all shocked until he explained that it was so much harder to win against what was then 'todays opponents'. The standard was much higher and to beat those players meant so much.

He's

He's really ground that out, Higgins wins the 1st two, the Davis the next two to make 8-4.  Higgins missing too many, Davis just playing it steady/Tight.

Higgins simple isn't going to beat him 9-4 from here unless he bucks up his ideas big style (which he is well capable of).

So this guy Gould is or was recently a dealer in a casino, now here's a quiz question for you and no googling please:

Name me another professional snooker player who appeared in a televised snooker event and also worked as as a croupier in a UK casino.
