i check called the river as i knew my chips were going in but if i shoved river i was only getting called if beat
but by check calling i might get him to shove with weaker hands

is my thinking flawed?

The ace is a great card for him to bluff with a missed flush or straight draw so your logic stands up. With 4021 chips left you are deep enough to come back if you fold though. I think you are beat here over 80% of the time. why had you decided all the chips were going in? Did you have a read on the player?

i would of had 6500 if i folded

the way the hand played i though i would be happy with check check, but if he shoved 90% of time it was a bluff after i showed weakness

what sort of range would you put him on ?

i would have though (cash game wise) you need to put him bluffing 35% of time to make this a profitable call is this the same in MTT

Can't see what's in his range to call pre then call when you fire two streets and jams the river that you beat

Seems like a pretty spewy line. No need to pot a perfect dry flop after villain calls from 2nd position imo. The pot gets out of control and your bet sizes are chiefly responsible. I don't see villain bluffing and think a flopped set or rivered two pair is much more likely.

wow my last few hands posted i lost every agreed i didnt play bad, this one i won and everyone would fold, my read is unless he hit a set he would check behind river, rest of time the shove is a bluff not a vaule bet

I quite like the river. what hand does he play that way up to the turn that the ace helps that isn't already beating us?

as i said i cant see what he flats with pre flats on flop and turn then shove the river apart from a set or a bluff
as it happens he must of though his middle pp was good

A9 i think he checks, AJ i think he folds on flop so i cant really see the shove being a big hand

By check-calling all in you are giving your opponent negative freeroll.

You could say the same thing if we had 23o, that doesn't make it a call. Got no idea how we're ahead here ironside but wp, sick read.

very much doubt we're playing 23o the same way tbh
