At least in England you can get costs if you win.

Never get a non specialist solicitor though as they tend to know sfa about traffic laws.

I prefer road traffic police to speed cameras.  You can talk nicely to police officers and you can get away with it, not so with cameras - they don't seem to want to engage in a conversation.

Traffic police can also stop other offences other than speeding, such as dangerous driving and the like.  They can also aid and assist people who've broken down or who have been in accidents.

[  ] they assist people who have broken down, especially if they are male

[  ]Yes, they drive past you on the motorway when you've broken down, look in the window and see that you're male and drive on.

The accidents i cant dispute, other than the fact they are as keen to appoint blame as they are to help

Other than help injured people, they're also there to garner evidence so that the innocent parties can correctly claim on the other party's insurance and that if there has been a transgression of the law, surely you want them to find out what happened and gather the evidence in order to prosecute the guilty party - or would you rather they just had a big party at the side of the road?

Quote
As soon as it stops becoming a revenue generator, i will listen to anything they have to say, until then, my opinion will never change.

Cameras, yes - pure revenue generator.  Police on the roads, good thing.

highways agency stop for stranded drivers on M'ways

Preference is given to women

If police on roads has anything to do with safety, then why does it need to be revenue earning?

All forces are targetted with a certain number of offences, so what would you do if you were down on the month?

I would sympathise with any "f*** the police" sentiment but OP was clearly just a very elaborate "I have an attractive female friend who wears skirts" brag. Smiley

On a serious note, is it fair enough that the polis are more inclined to stop to help a broken down lady rather than a broken down blokey. The lady being more likely to be targetted for sexual assualt than the bloke.

i wonder if he was giving you a chance to slow down by pulling in front of you. i wonder if unmarked police only stop people going very fast, otherwise they'd be having to stop everyone in the outside lane.

i think the 70mph limit is too slow for modern cars but i don't see how anyone else is to blame here?

boshi are you talking about unmarked cars like OP?

I made the big mistake of employing a road traffic cop
to work for me on a Sunday Market years ago
when taking cash of punters as I auctioned it
I caught him 100% with his hand in my till
everyone in south Wales heard about it
I made him look a right fool
but whenever I get stopped I mention this and they all say ahhhh that picrk
I say yes it was me he was nicking off
they seem to let me go for a few times lol
don't work anymore now lol

Its a bit akin to plain clothes coppers setting up a sting where the put something of value in a parked car waiting for someone to break in and nick said goods.

Both entrapment but both still criminal acts

and this is kinda my point really. You are right they are both criminal acts, its just the police spend a whole lot of time, effort and resource trying to catch one, and not alot on the other! Similarly the punishments are rediculously skewed as well. Why, because the guy driving the nice car can afford a hefty fine and is highly unlikley not to pay or to even argue. The theif will pretty much have no retribution, and even if he didnt, he probably couldnt pay a fine nor care less about his actions!

This country is going to the wall and the above is a pretty good reason as to why
