Welcome to Blonde

Does Blonde actually want new members? Other than as a target for this sort of thing?
Quote from: GreekStein on May 14, 2010, 10:28:45 AM
So last night I venture to play at my local casino in a private game. I'm getting run over a bit (it's an uncapped £0.50/1 game and I sat with around £4344.50 to begin proceedings).
So I'm now sat with £213.50 when I receive
after the £2 straddle and I just limp with to disguise my hand and trap someone. I've also limped the past 23 consecutuve hands. My plan goes a little wrong as there are 4 callers behind me to the flop. It comes a jackpot
and SB bets £12. I say to the table 'Fuck this stupid game, I hate poker, let's gamble so I can get out of here' and do a Phil Hellmuth (he's my hero) style shoveling of my chips into the pot trying to look like I have something like the bare ace of spades. Everyone passes quickly and one guy exposes his hand when he folds as
. I'm like wow how can you fold that but also pleased because someone now fold top pair as the way I've played the hand combined with my beautiful speech looks like I have the nut flush draw so with two more spades already gone, I'm gonna be quids in! It gets to the original bettor and he snap calls and quickly tables
. I keep my poker face on and don't table my hand until the turn and river are dealt as I'm supersticious. One guy calls me a 'puffoon' but I think he's just jealous as I'm the one stacking those chips.
Later on in the night I again limped UTG with pocket 8's and mr puffoon guy who was the table shortstack with £144 got his chips in on the 8 5 2. Why did he do this you might ask? Well when the flop came out and I saw I had the absolute nuts I slammed my fist on the table as though I can't hit a flop. I think that affected his decision to move all his chips in with just middle set.
With the coolers and sick beats I was getting, I should have probably gone home with nothing. However, my speech play and acting earnt me almost £1,000.
Just sayin'.

Hi David
It's just a light hearted joke-post after a long exchange on the update thread in which many many people including myself welcomed the new member and the hand disagreements were all posted in good heart
I understand your concern, and agree that sometimes people are over-ready to jump in rather than welcome, but in this instance there is a context to the post you quote.
Cheers

I read all the posts Rich and fully understood the context in which Greekstein posted and the motivation for him to spend the time on his attempt at humour at the new member's expense.

ok, as I say I take the point an entirely. I think - and I may be wrong - that it was funny and absurd enough to be classed as satire rather than anything worse

lol GTFO.
You choose to highlight my post in a thread where others are genuinely digging at the guy? My post made a light hearted joke of it. If anyone is offended by it then they need to stop taking themselves so seriously.
Once again, GTFO and have a nice day.

Wasn't going to say anything, but seeing as it's still going on............I agree with David. Not just giving Cos grief though. The whole attack on the new guy -
while I understand everyone's point
- was really unnecessary in a live updates thread. Had he posted it in the PHA board, well then...'live and learn' say I to him .
Rich is at DTD busting his arse doing those updates and could really do with everyone's support. Badgering on about what a new guy posted isn't helping anyone. Just my own 2 cents, but feel free to flame away. This chick wears teflon!

Nah, not really...this is pretty much the only reason.

I suspect the post David used to highlight his point was just because it was fresh in his mind. there has been a lot of stuff like this on blonde recently (and not just from Cos I might add). it seemed as though we were heading back away from that sort of stuff for a while there, but sadly (imo of course - some people seem to like this stuff), it looks like it might have been short lived.
