UKIPT Nottingham Final Table Profiles
Seat 1: Piotr Majewski, 28, Poland, PokerStars Qualifier – 639,000
Piotr is a familiar face at PokerStars events, having blogged EPTs for a number of years. In fact, he nearly missed his flight to San Remo in 2010 while recording his biggest online win of $10,000 on PokerStars.com the previous night. A part-time player, Piotr’s main job is running a poker site owned by his brother,
www.pokertexas.pl
. He nearly made it as a professional basketball player and is a qualified basketball referee. This is Piotr’s first Final Table, and he will start it 6th in chips.
Seat 2: Gareth Walker, 27, United Kingdom – 506,000
Gareth, from Newcastle, comes to the Final Table seventh in chips. He started playing online three years ago, but these days he prefers live poker. He usually tries to satellite into the bigger tournaments but he bought in directly to this event. He owns his own company, specialising in high-performance car parts. His favourite type of poker is lo-limit hold ‘em cash games and his biggest cash before this event was $2,700. Away from poker he likes watching movies, particularly comedies, and his favourite film is ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’.
Seat 3: Andrew Couldridge, 44, London – 1,206,000
Andrew is a part-time player who owns a plumbing firm in London. He started playing online 5 years ago and his biggest win to date is $9,000. He is a former football coach of Broadwalk Farm Youth Community Association, a youth club associated with Tottenham Hotspur, of which Andrew is a season ticket holder. He is looking forward to following Spurs around Europe next year, but with his Final Table appearance at this event, he could find himself travelling around Europe to play some EPTs instead.
Seat 4: Owen Robinson, 27, Ireland – 2,414,000
Owen Robinson is UKIPT Nottingham’s Final Table chip leader. He’s from Wexford and is currently on a voluntary three-year career break from his job in local government. He is planning on travelling to Asia and also to study for a Masters to add to his degree in Politics, Philosophy and Sociology. He’s been playing poker for around four years and started by playing in home games with friends. He prefers playing online to live play, and his speciality is cash games. A minimum £7,600 win tomorrow beats his previous biggest cash of $3,500.
Seat 5: Graham Giles, 31, PokerStars Qualifier – 1,807,000
Graham, from Essex, has been playing poker for six years. He describes himself as a semi-pro but generally plays four tables for five to six hours a day. He’s a man of the world and has held many jobs, but considers poker to be what he does best. He would like to go professional, but currently combines playing with a day job as a delivery driver. He plays both live and online, mainly tournaments. He won a satellite into this tournament on PokerStars and in the past he’s also won three seats to the WSOP on PokerStars. He has a partner and a baby, and away from poker he likes horse racing and is an avid fan of the Tractor Boys – Ipswich Town FC.
Seat 6: Oliver Schaffmann, 23, Berlin, Germany – 1,018,000
Originally from the German capital, Oliver Schaffmann has been living in the UK for three years and currently studies accountancy in Aberdeen. However, the Scottish weather has clearly taken its toll and Schaffmann plans to head to Australia – via the World Series in Las Vegas – once his studies are complete. He plays both live and online, relishing the social aspect of the live game, but also plays five to six days a week online, including the Sunday Million on PokerStars. A keen sportsman, Schaffmann was previously in the German national junior cycling team.
Seat 7: Nick Gavriel, 24, Birmingham, United Kingdom – 494,000
Nick Gavriel began playing poker with his family, and is still mainly a recreational player who works full-time in the family business. He is of Greek descent but lives in Birmingham, where his father is a friend of the English poker stalwart Mickey Wernick. His girlfriend, Natalie, who also plays poker, usually supports him, but is currently on holiday in Cyprus and so is missing his best live result to date. Primarily a live player, he also contests the Sunday majors on PokerStars.
Seat 8: Andros Spyrou, 27, London, United Kingdom - 1,407,000
A former road-worker from North West London, Andros Spyrou is now a full-time poker professional. He's played the game for more than 10 years – primarily live – and describes hold 'em and Omaha cash games as his ‘bread and butter’. He has also had some decent online scores, including winning $45,000 for third place in one online tournament. He'll be well-supported in Nottingham, with a contingency of friends arriving to cheer him at the Final Table.

Also, the £56 bounty tournament is today at 1.30pm for those interested in playing. There will be 5/6 bounties, each with £300 on their head.

Early action is as expected, cagey. Owen Robinson has extended his chip lead slightly, mainly by winning the blinds and antes uncontested preflop but in one notable hand, he took 300k off Andros Spyrou after Nick Gavriel opened to 82k preflop from UTG+1. Andros flat called next to him, but they were upstaged by Owen, who 3-bet to 300k from the SB. Nick got out of the way pretty quickly but Andros dwelled up before eventually calling.
They saw a
flop and Owen calmly counted out a stack of light blue chips and nudged them over the line, 500k total. This visibly pained Andros, who counted his stack 2-3 times whilst shaking his head, before eventually folding unhappily.

Blinds are now 20k/40k with a 4k running ante.
Nick Gavriel just moved all in from the cutoff after Ollie Schaffmann raised to 73k from the hijack just before the blinds went up. Ollie tanked, but decided a discretionary fold was in order.
Piotr Majewski has dribbled down to 300k, mainly from blinds and antes but he did lose 100k to Andros. I'm expecting him to move all in pretty soon with 7BB's.

Nick Gavriel has been the most active at the final table, he's now up to 1m after winning a few uncontested pots and taking a 300k pot off Ollie Schaffmann when he bet 160k on the turn of a
board.
Piotr Majewski has been all in a couple of times, yet to receive a caller though.
Ollie Schaffmann is our biggest loser. He lost a 500k pot to Andros after Andros flopped top pair and Ollie paid him off. He has about 600k now.

And 8 became 7...
Gareth Walker exits in 8th place.
Ollie Schaffmann raised it up to 93k from UTG+1 only to find Gareth shipping in his 316k stack from the button. After the blinds got out of the way, Ollie snap-called and opened
. Gareth sighed and opened

The flop was

, close but not close enough. Despite loud calls for a 9, the dealer duly burned and turned the biggest blank, the
, sending the 700k pot to Ollie and sending Gareth back to Newcastle with his biggest cash, £7,600.

Ollie Schaffmann has just doubled through Owen Robinson.
Owen raised to 95k from the cutoff, only to see Ollie make a suspiciously small 3-bet to 220k. After BB Nick Gavriel had got out of the way, Owen flat called.
The flop was
, and Ollie checked. Owen looked torn about whether to make a bet, but decided to check behind. They saw the
on the turn, and it was here that Ollie decided to make another small bet, 180k. Owen decided to flat call this as well and the 2 players saw what appeared to be a harmless
river.
Harmless it wasn't. Ollie pretty quickly moved all in for 500k. Owen grimaced and thought for about 20 seconds before quietly saying "call". Ollie grinned and opened an unbelievable
, for a flopped full house! Owen looked a bit shocked as he mucked before calmly counting out the chips and sending them Ollie's way.
Ollie now has 1.9m chips and is back up with the chipleaders. Owen has dropped to about the same.

Piotr Majewski has doubled through Andros Spyrou.
After Ollie Schaffmann opened to 90k from the hijack, Andros flat called from the button only to see Piotr move all in for 366k. Ollie got out of the way and Andros made the call.
Andros:
Piotr:
The flop came
, which gave Andros a small glimmer of hope, but that was extingushed on the
turn and river. Piotr is now up to 800k and Andros is down to about 600k.
