Buy in refund if game doesn't go ahead
«

Hi - not sure what section this should go in so please feel free to move it if I have posted in the wrong place!!
In the past I have expressed an interest in a local game that is run about once a month in the back of local pubs - quite well attended (50 ish each time) and average buy in either £10 ot £20.
He has sent me info about a WSOP game - £100 FO + £15 reg fee, 100 runners minimum with winner getting buy in to WSOP $10,000 (no travel or accom) and remainder going as cash prizes and covering costs.
Great I think- lots of local fish - but the info states that should the game not go ahead the reg fee will not be refunded.
All his other games have gone ahead ok - but this one isn't until March of next year.
Is this condition legal? What do people think? I know it's only £15 but it's the principle of the thing!
Thanks,
Tracey

Personally I think the whole thing is not legal and on very shaky ground. Gaming in licenced premises is illegal unless there is a gaming licence in operation. The Gutshot Club and otheers tried to circumvent this by becoming member only (amongst other things) and now they are in court. Be very very careful .

I find it extremely strange that he states that the £15 per head will be kept if the game does not go ahead
This would put me off big time. I am sure this is against gaming commission regs, but let's face it it's not licenced so probably no one has ever questioned it

Keep well away.
If you do register, whilst you're waiting I have great news, you have won £23,765,00 in a Nigerian lottery, for a processing fee I can arrange this to be in your bank account within 6 weeks. A simple upfront payment of just 0.5% is all that is required.

I don't like this sentence either. A 15% fee plus a further deduction for 'costs' from the prize pool!!!
Sounds like a license to bleed the prizepool dry to me.

Please can you refrain from making blanket statements on the legality of this issue. Next you'll be telling me pool competitions and darts matches are illegal in licences premises where money is involved.

Ok - thanks - you are all telling me what I thought anyway. So the question is - do i pay and risk it to have a chance at the Northampton fish - or not play?
i suppose if there were enough interested we could have a blonde WSOP???
Now there's an idea!! (I'll just leave that one hanging here and see if anyone takes up on it!)

Tracey,
If there were sufficient interest, blonde could run a blonde only WSOP Satellite.
But with seats at $10,000, thats a lot of money, & I doubt if we could muster up that much support. We can manage 100 or so at £10 or £20 a time, but we'd need about 70 at £100 a pop, & I'm not sure thats possible.

Tracey, its simple - just win the WPT-PCA event with its 1st prize of about $900,000!!
Then win the WPT grand final event which you will have entered for free as an extra of winning the WPT-PCA event - 1st prize approx $2,700,000
Then with all the publicity and sponsorship deals being flung at you just choose one that gives you entry into all the WSOP events for 2006.
shouldnt be too difficult......

Thats sound like a good idea tikay. Maybe an extended league with 6 events at £20 a pop and a final stt of ten to find the winner.. or somethin.

Although it sounds a good idea in principle IMO there are too many good players on blonde, instead of competing against each other and only sending one blondite to Vegas we should be out there competing against all the bad players and
's in an attempt to win as many seats for blondites as possible.
Then July 2006 - look out Vegas, there's a blonde revolution coming to town.......
