Trains? Someone mention trains? What do you want to know?
As a matter of interest - great interest - I was in York today, just in time to catch the 2.49 Virgin Voyager back to Derby (stopping at Leeds, Doncaster, Sheffield & Chesterfield). But York is such a fascinatng station, with the Virgin Main Line (I hate that poofter Branson with his wooly jumpers & plastic trains, pah!) & GNER - "The Route of the Flying Scotsman" emblazoned on the side of each carriage, running through parallel island platforms. So I decided to miss that one & catch the next an hour later. Wht an hour I had - fascinating stuff.
you live near Derby Tikay?

Its God's country up here, & I say that as an escaped Londoner.
Moved up 20 odd years ago, I absolutely love it. To drive daily past sheeps & cows and all that green grass stuff, & those sticky-up things - trees are they? - it's just beautiful. Plus there is Derby Railway Works.

Oh YES.
But I'm busy today, so you have fallen unlucky. Remind me, & I tell our readers all about it tomorrow. They got trams as well, you know, and buses. I love buses, especially the old RT's, though with time, I gradually warmed to the RM's. I saw an RT in Africa once, amazing. They have one at York Railway Museum, too.

......... and the tramway museum at Crich.
Grew up as a lad in Nottingham, aged 4 - 21. Came down to South hmmmm a few years back, not how saying how many coz I'm more youngerish than others.
Would dearly like to get back to the East Midlands. I might yet as I am becoming less tied down to this area.

Hey Dave, I will NEVER knock the railways. EVER.
Dad was an engine driver, Grandad too. I wanted to follow, but Dad said I had to get a proper job. Course that was in the days of British Railways, pre BR, pre Network Rail, pre Railtrack. And Dad & Grandad were both on the GWR - God's Wonderful Railway - is there any other? I could go on, but I got work to do today. We must chat about this another day.
What do you do in the Design Office? PW, signalling, rolling stock, anything exciting like that?

What, PW Remodelling & that sort of stuff? I noticed yesterday that they have remodelled the PW in York Station - done a great job, got an award too.
Tramway Museum at Crich? I worked 3 miles from there for 20 odd years, Heage. Used to pop up to the Museum most lunchtimes, find a bench, eat my sarnies & daydream of driving some of their kit. Happy days.
