If you hang around DTD long enough you'll soon hear a lot of talk along the lines of "OMG! Some staff have left! The sky has fallen! etc. etc." I remember sitting next to a ex-dealer who was playing the Super 50 who was saying stuff like "Oh, it's all going wrong, just look at the number of staff who are leaving, management are terrible etc."

In my opinion, dealing cards is a crappy, minimum wage McJob, and like all other McJobs, it's going to attract a lot of young folk who are going to do the job to fill in for a bit whilst they try and sort out what their "Plan A" for their life is, or fill in during holidays and so on. Just like flipping burgers or stacking shelves in a supermarket, I think high staff turnover is to be expected really.

And as other folk have pointed out, there is a clear path to move on to better things if they want to deal as a career. If I was wanting to get into dealing, I'd apply to DTD, get trained (excellently), get 6 months experience, then try and move on to contract dealing (what ever it's called). Dealing cards could take you round the world if you get it right.

Excellent I've got just the job.

Btw, despite being in your early twenty's and wanting a life you'll have to work every Friday and Saturday going because they're our busiest days.

its a real shame that dealing over here is not the careeer job it can be in the states where good dealers all earn $1500 a week easy. this is because our sh1te gambling commission in uk treat rake as casino gross profit not as service charge hence we pay up to £10 for a hand to be dealt rather than $4 max (£2.70) and a buck tip.

and now blatch is fekked even less tips at dtd... he was always a good tipper.

Shaun, nice bloke, generally happy, god damn good bar man as far as I'm concerned.
Nice bloke to share a poker table with to.
His girlfriend was Charlotte the dealer, pretty sure he must have done a little dance every morning he woke up.
