Really looking forward to reading this Dwayne.

Does John Ward ever ring you up for a chat about anything you have put in your scouting report?

Is it easy watching a match and having to purely concentrate on one side, or do you find yourself drifting off and just enjoying the game sometimes?

If you spot a young player who you think has huge potential do you inform your team or just keep an eye on his progress?

Rarely will I speak to John, I deal 95% of the time with the chief scout.

Drifting off and checking other scores on my phone is far from uncommon.  Cheesy

Unless the young player is from a league or two below its highly unlikely a league 1 club will ever sign another youngster from a league 1 club, so not really, unless of course they may be looking to swicth clubs for whatever reason.

Lolz

And there was I preaching about football to OP in another thread.

Did you work under John Ward at Chelt?

yes mate, and with John at Carlisle, then when he joined Aidy Boothroyd as assistant lats September, moved with him again.  I did one off games for Bristol Rovers and Stockport at the start of last season too.  He's a good guy John, he's not the all singing all dancing manager some ppl like, but boy does he know the game at a lower level.

Excellent manager in lower leagues as you said, a bit like Gary Johnson but not so chopsy.

Ward done a great job for both Bristol clubs, I wish him and all his management team well.

This thread will be very interesting, nice one!

I don't really care much about football unless it's a team I'm really interested in.  But you've put a new twist on it with this diary and already I'm enjoying it.

It sounds great, but I bet chip gets bored as fuk and sick of driving. The quality is gash and if you have a family its worse. Not having a go at all just props to anyone that does it for the love of the game.

Good luck with this Dwayne, looking forward to it.

Few questions.

What is the best game you have seen whilst scouting?

Who do you support? And have you had to scout a game that involved them? If not, and you had to one day do that, would you give a load of false info to try and assist them? Cheesy

Are you related to Michael Owen?

Who were you named after?

What a sick job. Shame you have to watch the most boring team in L1.

Where in Chester are you? I was in Harbledown for a while right near the city centre.

Have you seen any Brighton games in past 3 years? Who has impressed you most?

Favourite stadium for atmosphere outside of the premiership?
