Girgy beats Tighty in 10/1 shocker!

Yeah Oldham v Bournemouth.  Probably one of my least favourite grounds that I go to regularly, parking is a free-for-all, the ground always seems to depress me, always rains and generally seems the most miserable place in Britain!  Also the main stand seats, when designing, I think they forgot to include gangways, the rows must only have access every 40 odd seats, and when the seats are old wooden ones with no leg room its a right pain, your bang in with the home fans here.

One bright spot is where you pick the tickets up from, a very elderly gentleman always hands the programme and team-sheet out, he must be at least 90, always smartly dressed, he may even have a war medal or two on his blazer, i'll check tomorrow.  I always wonder how many games he's actually seen at Oldham.

I think Port Vale is the 2nd highest behind West Brom.

I have never liked boundary park either, pretty sure it must be in the arctic circle.

The elderly gentleman was not there on saturday, hope he's well.  Sad

The game itself was not much more inspiring, plenty of guts as you'd expect off Dickov's team, but low on quality overall, they did very well to win after being 0-1 down though.

The pictures are dark, the day was as drab as predicted.  Cheesy

On the one of the left hand goal you can see the fire damage caused by local kids appartently a few weeks ago.

Alos after moaning about seating, I got the end of row seat, happy days.  Smiley

What did you think of Chris Taylor the Oldham Winger?

I thought, when I saw him that he was a real talent, and surprised he hadn't got a move higher yet?

18 months I agreed, not now I dont think, he's missed the boat I suspect.  I've seen a lot of Oldham, 12-15 times over the last 2 years and he's right footed, but always plays on the left, I mean always, never even has 10 minutes on the right for different ideas.  He's one of their better players, but goes for periods too long without doing anything.  He didn't do much at all on sat.

He played as the central striker on sat, I know they have Symes injured and have just lost Pitman so are desperately short here.  A central striker he is not, and was bullied out the game on sat by a big bruiser of a CB on loan from Sunderland M'Voto.  1st time I've seen him, not sure where he normally plays in midfield?

Also, Bournemouth's regular right back these, Lee Bradbury, I mean wtf happened there?!?!?

Chip got another question for you.
Was talking to my housemate (who is playing FM while i work) about scouts. I remembered that when i lived in Holland that there was a lad at my school who was out there as his Dad was a football scout.
His Dad was stationed out there permanently and scouted Holland, Belgium, Germany and probably more.
This was probably 10 years ago. He was a scout for a Prem team but not a top one. Maybe Coventry.

Would this happen these days? Was that early prem days money being spent and now cost cutting means people go on specific scouting trips?
I am assuming it was his only job, does that sound realistic?

Is the head scout of top clubs in the clubs home country and thats where all scout reports would go or are they still "active" even when they reach the top?

I read somewhere that Chelsea have 68 full-time scouts around the world, but I think most if not all the top clubs have someone in every worthwhile country.  The chap that I work with at Colchester worked with John Ward under Dave Jones at Wolves and did a couple of Euro games, fly over, catchmaybe a sat & sun game then fly back, 1 night stay.  I think then, this was the season they won promotion to the Prem, 03/04 without checking he said they had 15 scouts, 4 full-time, although he said that was just before the technology caught on, which Prem clubs use mostly now, video footage etc.

I really don't know how 'active' the main Prem guys are, very I'd Imagine.  I know the chap at Colchester catches at least 4 games a week, all levels & lots of reserve games.  I think 154 games in a season he said is the most he's done, but usually 120-130.

Did Joe Colbeck feature for Oldham? If so what did I think of his performance?

How did Rhoys Wiggins (Bournemouth LB) play?

He never really got a shot at Norwich, but deffo got the impression he was doing the business at Bournemouth.
