To tilting that Charlton sack their manager before Wednesday. Milan loves a good sacking - get on with it. Is Parky any good. I'd take him over Irvine at the moment.

Milan Milan Milan, oh boy you are in for a treat
S Wed assistant manager is Rob Kelly, who Milan sacked at Leicester when he took over from Levein
I don't give Irvine and Kelly long.
Milan remains close to Megson, but I would think he'd be looking more glamorous
Meanwhile Dennis wise is 1/3 to get the Charlton job, which will be the Jiminez/Newcastle connection

Glad to hear he still gets on with Megson.
Thought today was the day to sack him though. Only a cup game at the weekend so longer to find a manager and let the new man make January signings.
Milan likes to be involved in the signings too doesn't he so not sure we need to keep Irvine for current deals to go through.

Surprised to see Parkinson sacked at Charlton.
Gatso, anything behind the scenes or just results?
not results, he's just won manager of the month, lost like 2 in 15 and we're 3 points off 2nd spot. however he's tactically inept and most results have been the result of blind luck. last night at 2-1 down he went to a back 3 consisting of a centreback, a rightback and a left midfielder, trully bizarre.
but that wasn't the final factor. he was always going to go with the takeover. it's unclear where the money's from but everything is pointing to a lot of money from a group who've tried to buy a premier league club on the cheap. parky was never going to be the man to give them the 2 quick promotions they're after even with cash to spend
now it may turn out that there's no money and all the takeover has done it kept us out of admin for another year or 2 but all signs point away from this and the sacking would make no sense
hughton and poyet are the 2 interesting names in the hat. both have a lot of history with jiminez and wise

Poyet moving would almost be as bizarre as Billy davies to Preston, no?

Absolutely zero chance of Poyet going to Charlton.
He's on avery long contract at Brighton and new investment or not, Charlton won't be able to afford the compensation which would be big 7 figures.
The only place Poyet will be allowed to go is the Premiership.

I learnt something new on saturday at Vauxhall Motors V Gainsborough (where Biran Little is now manager, Gavin Ward assistant, much travelled goalkeeper).
One of the VM subs was questioning when a Gainsborough player was taking long throws, ''his foot is over the line'', every time it was too, I was 5 yards away.
But the linesman simply answered him, ''the
whole
foot has to be over the line''. Never knew that to be honest. The back of his heel was an inch on the line every time, every slight advantage and all that.
Finished 1-0, the very Welsh sounding Obi Anouro, on loan from Wrexham got the winner for Vauxhall, Luke Beckett was on bench for Gainsborough, a lower league stalwart of sorts.

Vauxhall really don't get that much support from the area they're in unless it's a big game. I lived in Ellesmere Port that night against QPR and all you could see out of houses were Vauxhall flags left, right and centre.
Problem is, people who would go and watch football from "the Port" will go and watch Liverpool/Everton/Tranmere and even Chester before VM. They'll never attract casual fans because the ground is a nightmare to get to if you don't have a car. No buses, no trains. It's taxis or someone drives, which keeps the teenagers away as well.

Yeah, like the crystal maze trying to find it. There was a fair few from Gainsborough there too I'd say.

Colchester have lost 2 players to Chamionship clubs last day or Tierney to Norwich, Reid to Scunny. Tierney hadn't played in a few months, but Reid played lots so a loss there.
There on Sky V Bournemouth tonight, I could have gone but didn't fancy the 480 mile round trip.
I'm at Sheffield Wednesday V Charlton tomorrow, Colchester have Charlton on Feb 1st. Bit of a forum fixture this, Gatso V Jose/Shoelace.
