then again the ref can't blow up and then let one team score

Maybe that's what the 4th official pointed out?

What did he blow for in the 1st place?

good question, noone seems too sure

john ward apparently just said on the radio that he blew anticipating the linesman's flag which didn't come and so the 4th official told him to disallow it. completely baffling why both ref and lino would think it was a goal then. don't think mr sheldrake will be reffing in the league for a while

basically it seems as if he blew his whistle, then realised he'd made a mistake and tried to cover up and pretend he hadn't done it

Dermot Gallagher was on SSN explaining this one. He said the ref gave an offside that the lino hadn't flagged for and blew his whistle before the goal had been scored. Went to the lino and was told it wasn't offside and gave the goal. 4th official steps in and says that he blew the whistle before the goal was scored and made a mistake, went to lino to confirm. Gave a drop ball as it was neither offiside nor a goal.

lol, wow I think it's safe to say they were robbed here IMO. No way that would not have been a goal if the ref hadn't blown his whistle.

V V harsh.  Defenders never stopped at all, only thing that makes me think is the way the keeper springs up after to fetch the ball as if to take a free kick, but still looked like he was trying to stop it.  Club not happy.

Haven't lost interest in this, far from it, but haven't been to a game since the 1st as have been away the last 2 weekends for a week.

3 exciting pictures from that Oldham game I'm sure you'll agree.

Good win for Colchester on saturday, always nice to get a last minute winner.

Dont think I have a game tomorrow night and nothing obvious for saturday at 1st glance the way the fixtures are working themselves but will see.

Are you on a fixed wage, or just paid for games you go to?

Paid a small fee per game, plus decent milage costs.

Its far from what you imagine I expect, and if I was doing it for the cash I wouldn't be doing it all if you get me.

this would seem the perfect place to post yet another bizarre league 1 refereeing story, yet again from the valley. during the first half on saturday the ref appeared to get hit by a sniper, I've never seen an official go down like this and he was clearly in serious trouble rolling around in agony. first reports came back that he'd broken his leg whilst running along but it later turned out that he'd only twisted his ankle, he just thought it was a break as he heard the pencil in his sock snapping

Keep 'em coming Gatso, I want you to complete a hat-trick of odd valley stories before the season is out.

Colchester lost away from home again last night, 4 on the trot, all without scoring, at the same time they've won 3 on the spin at home.

Playing home/away, does it really make that much difference?

Bugs me to hell as to why so.
