Probs just wait to see what the physio says, you don't want to do more damage with random cures.

I went to the Doc with a bad back, & she printed off a leaflet on Non Specific Back Pain & prescription for painkillers. No help I know but so is the NHS imo.

I know this sounds mental, but try sleeping on the floor with no mattress, or even sleep on a old solid door.

I have had serious back problems and it worked for me after a few weeks.

Also my mate fractured his back and he wears a weightlifting type belt everywhere even just walking, it helps him a lot.

I see a Chiropractor once a month or so and can definately recomend it.

Go for a Mctimoney chiropartor as this is by far the best method.

my dad has a bad back and had this guy do a series of massages on him (I hope that's what they were doing! lol) and over a period of 3 months his back got a lot better. He goes less regularly now and wears a back support but he's ok and recommends this guy to everyone.

What area do you live in?

I get MRI's because I'm good at breaking discs.  Best stick to the docs in the field besides asking people randomly about it as there are so many different things can go wrong with your back and a lot of causes for it too.

I'd be wary if you've been referred to an NHS physio. Whilst they undoubtedly know a lot imo they are nowhere near as good as if you go private. They spend far too much time treating little old men and ladies so just don't quite cut it when an otherwise healthy person comes looking for help.

Where do you live? If it's anywhere near Nottingham I can recommend a guy who's the stone cold nuts. When I was fighting all the time I used to see this guy at least once a fortnight to get everything straightened out.

Weightlifting belts can be a good idea as can gentle stretching but that really depends on the nature of your specific problem. In some cases stretching could do more harm than good.

People on here can recommend ice packs, heat packs, sleeping flat, sleeping curled up, stretching, total bed rest......etc....

Basically anything that's worked for them they'll recommend. Back problems vary hugely though so there are loads of different fixes depending on the exact nature of the problem. Only an expert can tell you what you need to do and even they can only help when they've actually seen you to assess you.

It might be worth seeing a few different physios if you can't get a recommended one. Stick with the one you feel most confident with. Don't just believe them if you aren't happy with them.

A decent place to find a good local physio would be at a local gym or kickboxing class. Preferrably a 'spit and sawdust' type place where the guys are really pushing themselves and f**king their bodies up all the time. These people need to get regular physio and you can bet they all compare notes on who's the best in the area.

Yeah that can fix it. A bit of weight lifting can build muscle around an affected area protecting it in a similar way to a lifting belt.

Also by exercising you may have jarred something back in to place.

Bit of a result you had there Smiley
