Football Bets 2010/11 Season
«

Just had my first bet on the football for season 2010/11. A speculative tenner on Dundee Utd to win the SPL at 90/1. Obviously it's a tenner I expect to say goodbye to but I think there is a bit of value to be had here.
The OF are IMO the weakest they have been in a long long time. Rangers have a depleted squad with little or no prospect of any real quality coming into the squad and even a couple of so so jersey fillers are proving hard to come by. Not to mention Walter Smith saying it's his last season. Will need masses of luck with injuries and everyone consistently performing well to stand any chance of retaining the title.
Celtic have a rookie manager and there are massive changes to their playing personnel which may take a while to gel if they gel at all. Add to this an abundance of strikers who would struggle to hit a barn door at 10 paces.
Dundee Utd so far have not had much change on or off the field and finished the season on a high. If there is little change to their squad and they get off to a good start they could offer a real challenge to the OF.

Thats kinda weird someone at work suggested the same bet today.
I can't disagree with anything you've said but whilst Utd will take points from Celtic and Rangers they'll drop a lot more points to the other teams like they always do. You should get a run for your money for a few months though before they fall away as has happened with Utd, Hibs and Hearts in the past.

Peterborough e/w to win Div 1 at 12-1
They have kept Joe Lewis, George Boyd, McLean and Mackail Smith added some bite in midfield and have money from Darragh Anthony if required and a hungry manager in Johnson.
Southampton are 5/2 favourites, reckon Peterborough will be right up there

Think League 1 is pretty clear cut this season and it'll boil down to Saints, Charlton and the mighty Posh.
Johnson has trimmed down our squad and strengthened the two problem areas, defence and midfield.
Lewis is the best keeper outside the Prem, let alone in League 1.
Ryan Bennett remains an outstanding prospect at the back, plus it's looking like we may pick up Queudrue and Liam Chilvers for a bit of experience.
Charlie Lee and Grant McCann is a serious midfield partnership at this level, while Boydy re-signing is massive, even though he's a bit of a problem child by all accounts.
Mackail-Smith is a good bet for top scorer at around 16-1. He's looked sharp in friendlies so far and I reckon is ahead of McLean in the pecking order if, as seems likely, Johnson is intend on playing a big man up front (Hibbert).
Otherwise, Crawley are the buzz team for the BluSq (7-1) but I'd sooner back Tubbs to be top scorer. He was top scorer last season, on 26, when playing for Salisbury. Crawley must be up there and they've got serious cash for the level it seems.
They've taken Sergio Torres from Posh for a start. He'll be different gravy at that level.

I would've been proper loling at this 2 weeks ago but the players we've brought in in that time have genuinely excited me about the upcoming season. our defence looks superb but we're still a goalscorer away from being competitive

So far i have backed:
Middlesbrough
to win the Championship @ 10/1.
7/1 now so happy with this. Got the bet on just before Boyd was confirmed and now with them having signed Mcmanus and Thompson also im delighted with this bet. Can't see them being far away surely?
Stoke
to be relegated from the Premiership @ 7/1.
I think the squad is weak and teams will have started to work them out by now. I think they may follow from Reading? and Ipswich in recent years and suffer from 3rd season syndrome after over acheiving for 2 seasons.
I also like but am not on yet:
Drogba
to be top prem scorer @ 6/1
Tevez
to be top prem scorer @ 14/1
And i make League One between Southampton, Huddersfield and
Peterborough
. I would back Huddersfield @ 10/1 as it was a few weeks ago but i missed the boat and they are now 8/1. I may join others on here by getting on the Posh boat @ 12/1 EW.

This looks good value after hearing Titus Bramble has agreed terms

Luton will win the conference
I think, anyway. Right up there for most of last season, Oxford out of the league now and they have brought in a couple of good players notably Danny "not as rotund as he used to be" Crow who is a natural scorer in the lower leagues and they have the best player in that league, a fella called Keith Keane who sits in front of the back four and kicks anything that moves. Hard. Even better, he gets away with it in that league.
Anyone know the best price to see if there is a possible bet there?
Crawley at 7/1 is LOL in my opinion...the money could disappear as fast as it arrived I hear.

Crawley were rumoured to be sniffing at Keane, Money not happy.

Biggets price Luton is 2-1 and I think they'll win the league too, which is why I'd rather back Tubbsy at 7-1 than Crawley at the same price.
Speaking of Tubbsy, Danny Crow is, and always has been, too farking lazy to be as prolific as he should be at that level.
We had him at his, ahem, peak, but he's such a lazy gobshite, always whinging. And eating it seems. Wouldn't back him for anything. Apart from a pie-eating contest.
