On the live update thread

I should have researched the specific instances recently before I did it, but I didn't expect it to go as it did

lol, interesting interview Smiley

I've played Ade before, and yes of course he is a dick and full of himself, but he's also very entertaining. The game needs more players like him imo.

Seems like a very intelligent guy. I have no idea who this guy is, though did read a little about his exploits at the GUKPT.

Personally, I have a massive thing about etiquette. I think that derives from me as a person and my upbringings and the sports I partake in outside of poker. I come from a golfing family and as many will know, etiquette pretty much makes golf the game it is. This transfers to poker for myself, as I'm sure it will others.

However, it is interesting to hear someone elses view on the subject who obviously has very different backgrounds. Ade seems like an intelligent man that uses his intelligence to try and argue down people that disagree with his personal opinion. The main part of the interview i disagree'd with is here he tries to separate personal insults (insulting ones family etc), from rub downs and such. How do these differ? You call someone ugly, your insulting them personally. You insult someones play, your insulting their intelligence and skill. Surely these are pretty similar?

Just my take on things. Could type more but cba as I'm on my phone. It is very interesting to hear the opinion of the other side of the fence however. I do love playing with this style of player, as they create a good atmosphere, and it's always nice to catch them. (I'm the sort of person that will sit there and bide my time, not changing my game to cater for them. I'll take pleasure when I do occasionally catch them).

Footnotes:
TL;dr
Mainly rambling

Quite impressed that you managed to type all of that out from your phone.

Not awful really.  Granted, when I first read it I thought, "Ade's intelligent?!  The guy's a feckin eejit!"  But then I read your post again and thought about it some more.  I suppose in a way he's really quite intelligent because he knows how to change or twist topics to suit him.  Everyone uses their smarts in different ways.  He's just not using his for much good.

He comes across as a hypocritical prick.
I don't think he comes across as intelligent at all, just the sort who could start an argument with himself

I've played with him a few times, and don't mind his banter, but he's very intimidating for new players which is bad in my opinion.    I think he's successful outside of poker and comes across as intelligent when I have met him.
