How did you meet your backer?

Ever wanted to leave and play own dime or w/e?

Things always been good between you both, even during the 60bi downswing?

How's the toasty live games where you are?

No the backer for the HU games finished whilst I was in MU, it was just after black Friday, some of the makeup is still in there.

Things were good because they realised I was running terrible, we went to Brighton together and I ran so bad both live and online, think they kinda realised. I actually ironically met him in Brighton the year before too. They are really good players that nobody really knows about and they taught me alottttt in the months I was there. They kinda pushed the turning your hand into a bluff thing on me after they told me a hand they had played vs Trickett. Anyway the first few months I was crushing and running good, they came to visit me and told me I was the most likely out of the whole stable to have a 100k 2012.

Fat forward 13 days, James Mackenzie loses stop loss to a fish. I end up getting realllly deep vs the fish, opened 12x on button with kq, he peeled, flop was k102, we get lots of monies in and he rivers two pair with j10. Following day I lose stop loss (6bi's at 200nl) running 11bi's below ev and the downswong started.

They also bought 30% of me in a big live game I managed to get into which was a huge shot for me persoanlly at the time, I end up getting 2 pair vs overpair in for thousands and thousands of dimes and he turns a set. Really was a weird 3 months of run bad. The week after I left them I won a $55 comp for 4k I think,

Since then its mainly been a upswing although on Ladbrokes I ran 7k below EV in last 2 months.

Why did you open 12x on the button!?

I got confused as recently you said you were about to play $1k NL etc, I thought that was for your backer.

It was for a new guy, but all PKR action I wanted for myself. This deal ended around 3+ months ago.

I did play NL1K on own dime during that period though which was fine. And played upto NL4K (2k w/straddles) live.

12x on the button was an adjustment vs fish Smiley

Love poker tak in blog, I'm [ ] secretly a huuuuuuuuuuuge poker geek.

you think heads up is a very good way to learn about poker very quickly?

also, what would you class your speciallity now, HU 6 max mtt's or a bit of an all rounder?

you think heads up is a very good way to learn about poker very quickly?

I'd say that Live 3-7 handed is where Iam at my best, although the sample size may be the smallest, I feel ridicuously comofrtable and really really enjoy it.

Heads up is without doubt the best way to learn poker IMO.  Although I actually lost playing heads up over a 3 month sample, I learned so much from it.

Game flow, adjustments, hand reading are more important in HU than almost anything, if you're weak in any of these areas against a good player you will get torn apart. Anybody who I have coached/sweated will say I am much better at HU than 6max, but I think my 6max game is improving and pretty similar.

Tournaments I have been really funny with. I originally thought I was good/solid and was nitty and +ev, I then ran awful, actually when Greeky backed me for some comps and immediately thought I was terrible. I realised after it was just variance and then I started to put my cash game into tournaments and it helped alot.

I got private coaching from anon friend and reallllllly helped my game and believe I have potential to be a really good MTT player. I had some nice runs in some live tournaments this year and online made a good 5 figure amount.

My weakness, is that I play all of them and unfortunately means I am not BITB in any of them.

I want to go back to HU or 2-4 handed games and this 10k challenge vs James should help me.
