I have a ring on my middle finger. I want to take it off as it's starting to dig into the skin a little bit. However, over the years my middle finger has either grown or the ring has shrunk. The ring has also deformed a bit in shape. In short: I can't imagine being able to actually take it off my finger via just pulling it off.
Anyone any suggestions that might either shrink my finger, expand the ring, or a way of cutting it off (without taking off my finger in the process)?

|
stick your hand into some icy water to shrink the finger as much as possible. then rub a load of butter round the ring/on the finger and see if it'll come off

Cold water would surely shrink the ring more than the finger. Instead, put washing up liquid on your finger, then hold your hand up in the air for a bit to drain as much blood as possible from it. |

I've done a combo of the pair in the past and it's worked. Chilled the hand in ice water, then hold it in the air to drain followed by loads of washing up liquid and PULL. Not sure if holding it in the air counteracted the chilling, but it deffo worked.

don't drink any fluids for about a week so your body shrivels up, then you hold the ring over a flame like a bunsen burner causing it to expand

If none of the above work and you need to cut it off, and if it's gold or silver you'll need to snip it twice at opposite sides. If you only snip it once you'll probably get you skin pinched in the ring. This can be very painful as my wife found out when her fingers suddenly swelled one day and I had to cut her wedding ring off. |
