Guess I should jump on this bandwagon whilst there is still room.
Solver - becuase my name is

tuart Olver.
Not to clever really but a lot of people online seem to think I'm claiming to be some sort of problem solver and I can't count the amount of times somebody has typed "solve this" before moving all-in.

Same here. My name is

My name was given to me on my first ever night i played poker, at my local casino. After 20 minutes or so i was caked up in chips, when some man asked me my name, i said" Ruth " he replied " Ruthless more like". Ever since then i have only been known as that at the casino.

I've posted this before but it deserves to be in this thread really!
The most interesting nickname I have come across was an American gent from Alabama named Randy Erdhart.
We were in the middle of a poker game whilst on an oil job in Africa and his friends repeatedly referred to him as D.F. Knowing the Americans habit of calling guys by there initials and knowing that this guys initials were not D.F. I asked what it stood for. There was a bit of sniggering and then a quick change of subject and the matter was dropped.
A couple of weeks later in the bar, I got into conversation with Randy, who was well on. It turns out that Randy had graduated with top marks from Alabama State in civil engineering, his marks to this day having never been bettered.
He was also a collegiate middle distance champion winning the Gold and silver medals.
After leaving college he joined the U.S. army’s engineering corp. serving with great distinction and winning three awards for bravery, two of which were when under fire.
After listening and being greatly impressed I brought up the subject of D.F. again. His reply
“I’ve got one of the greatest minds in the Southern United States, no one ever mentions it!
I was such a good athlete that my coach believed if I hadn’t joined the forces I could have been an Olympic medal, no one ever mentions it!
Three goddamned medals for bravery I have, one of them a purple heart! Does anyone ever mention, Oh no!
Yet I ride one lousy little daschund when I’m 16 and I’m known as Dog F**ker for the rest of my life.”

My original online name was Silobass. I played bass in a band a few years ago and our first cd was called The Silo E.P.
Got shortened over time to Silo and I stuck Graham on the end recently because people calling you Silo in Real Life (TM) is very embarrasing. Graham is (perhaps obviously) my Real Name.

Thats why when you choose your own poker nickname its advisable to choose one that wouldn't embarass you if it were shouted out loud from the other side of a busy department store!!
And when your rich and famous try and imagine what it would be like to have your nickname shouted constantly by hourdes of screaming groupies - if it sounds silly it may be worth changing it

Trouble is I don't know what to change it to - I need a good poker name. I'll get one eventually.
I have been in a crowded Pizza Hut with someone shouting across a family of about 30 kids "Silo - what are you having?"
Very embarrasing. I'm hoping in time people will drop the Silo and just call me Graham, then I'll remove the Silo and introduce a poker name
Long process but I'll get there.

its not even something that could be a realistic nickname, its a proper word not associated with people but more of an online type thing (or storage) its just a crappy name if you are ever likely to meet the people you use the name with
IMHO of course!

There's nothing wrong with 'Silo', it's a good nickname.
It reminds of a teacher I had once; Miss Isle.

So you had her, but didn't marry her.
