Snoops suggested to me on another thread that I should come over and explain the origin of my username - Zen Taff, so here goes:

It's basically pretty self-explanatory really.

The 'Zen' bit comes from my interest in zen philosophy. The 'Taff' bit is because I'm Welsh.

I kind of got it from another British online player one rainy Sunday afternoon while playing at Paradise Poker. We found ourselves at a table full of north americans, so we chatted a bit. Then he put a bit of a bad beat on me and apologised. I said something like, "well, that's poker" and he replied "Hmm, a zen taff". I thought - "I'm having that." Perhaps in some small way I can help to reclaim the word "taff" and make it sound less derogatory for us taffs.

Actually, the more I think about it, the crapper that story gets and the more I'm going off the name. It's a good job I use a few different names at other sites.

How about Zaff?

Yeah, that's not a bad option.

Short, snappy, mysterious. I might use that sometime.

I'd stick to Zen Taff if I were you, it's funky.

Zaff sounds like a household cleaning product or something.

LOL - that's true. I hadn't thought of that.

I just wish you weren't stuck with a particular name once you sign up to a particular poker site. I can never make my mind up.

You can change your alias on blonde, Zen Taff, just by editing your profile options.

Did you know 'Scottish Dave' used to be just 'Dave'?!

LOL. Are you beginning to regret suggesting that I explain my username yet Snoopy? Grin

My blonde username "Zen Taff" is fine (although my name is also Dave, so I could change it to "Welsh Dave" if it makes things easier).

I meant that I wish you could go back and change certain names you've used at poker rooms, because at some places I'm stuck with crap stuff like "dave5472". In comparison, I think I can happily live with "Zen Taff".

Well, you mentioned that you weren't a big fan of the name, so I thought I'd suggest something else.

What's wrong with Zen? You'll get called that for short anyhow.

Yeah, that's cool. Thanks for the suggestion Snoopy.  thumbs up

And you're quite right, everyone calls me "Zen" at Poker Stars anyway.

I'll stick with Zen Taff then - no more complaining from me.

Plus, when I get a chance to make my debut at one of the blonde Sunday tournaments, at least you and Tank will know who I am now. Grin

This is the first time I have seen these posts.

Silo is a good name mate, nothing wrong with that,

I am Sark because I was watching ALIAS when I joined Stars after starting to play. 79 comes from my birth year.

My real name is Lewis.
