I can think of few companies I admire as much as Ryanair.
Innovative, profitable - VERY profitable - & mountains of cash in the Bank.
They are an exemplary Company in almost every way, particularly with regard to financial Management, punctuality, & safety.
I have a bunch Shares in BA, & have done for 20 years or more, since they were Privatised - I so wish I'd put the money in Ryanair instead!
I MUCH prefer to fly BA, of course, & I don't enjoy flying Ryanair. But when it comes to effeciency, & a business model to die for, Ryanair ticks every box.
A most splendid Company, & I'm not at all surprised they make no exceptions for Mr Dettori, who clearly has trouble reading the T & C's of his ticket.

This.
Hate flying with them, with a passion in fact, bloody horrible experience.
But I had a trip away with the missus the other week and we were constantly pointing out how efficient the whole process was and how much money they must be saving by doing XY and Z.
BA are shite too though. Singapore Airlines are the best I've flown with.

Tikay how come you like Ryanair so much?
You always praise their great business model and seem to revel in the fact that they charge for everything and call them a most splendid company. They simply maximise profit often at expense of an unsuspecting customer.
If a casino runs a tournament that is a £1000 freezeout and hides the juice in the T&C's you seem to be dead against it when really it is just like Ryanair in costing the people that don't know exactly what they're getting in to and it is obviously a ploy to maximise profits just like Ryanair?
If you applauded both i could understand but i get the impression (rightly or wrongly) that you like one and not the other.

How do you think the splendid company of Ryanair would fair if for arguments sake 'WeLikeOurCustomersair' was to launch with a very similar service but a slight knowledge of customer services and public relations?

It's a 2 way street Jose.
Punters need to understand that not reading the T & C's does NOT excuse them from their ignorance of charges or whatever.
If you book a Ryanair ticket, the ID issue is plastered everywhere - you cannot possibly miss it.
EXACTLY the same applies in poker. If players are deceived, of course I'd object.
You may be thinking of the players who are bellyaching that the WPT ripped them off for £200, but that's slightly more complicated, as it's 6 of one & half dozen of the other. But if you were spending £5,500 to play the WPT, would you not check the facts first, & with some care? I know I would! £5,000, & not read the T & C's? Err, no way!

They couldn't. Decent PR personnel and cabin crew who are unconditionally polite cost £££. With a return to Italy for £5 I would put up with chimps in suits for cabin crew, so would millions of others it would seem.

No idea Stu.
The Company is owned by it's Shareholders, & they must be delighted with their investment. The Companies mission statement is not "we want punters to like us", it's "if we deliver cheap & punctual flights using the most modern fleet of aircraft of any airline, we'll make pots of money". And they do exactly that. The revenue comes from stuff like charging for luggage, which, as one who thinks we take too much luggage because we can, I wholly applaud.
Making money
is what the airline is there to do
- & no airline in the world does it as well. We don't have to like them, but we have to acknowledge they are a very fine company, whether we like using them (& I don't) or not.
Note that Aer Lingus are just about bankrupt. Ryanair offered several times to buy them, but have been refused permission - because Ryanair would cut inefficiency, & that means jobs. And Aer Lingus care more about jobs than efficiency Which misses the point that efficiency
creates
jobs - Ryanair have created thousands of jobs, whilst BA have so far rid themselves of 20,000 jobs without affecting service Levels, which says it all.

I would be interested to see the cost implication of the CEO thinking before he speaks, moving the credit card charges into the flight prices, and offering seat allocations spread over the million customers.
I might be in the minority but I would much rather book a £50 flight than a 1p flight if they didnt rape me at the checkout and I didnt have to join the cue of idiots who decide that they best be ready to board 30 mins prior to take off.

You & me too - but because we don't like it, does not mean we can bury our heads in the sand & pretend it's a bad Company, or has a bad CEO. Ryanair (unpopular Ryanair) now carries more passengers than BA!
If you or me were starting a business, we'd DIE to get Mr O'Leary to run it.
People moan about all successful businesses - Ryanair, Tesco, McDonalds etc - but more people buy their products than comparable products. That's the litmus test.

I have a business, its been built on customer service and customer satisfaction, I can guarantee you I would not let Mr O'Leary anywhere near it.
I'm not saying its a bad company or burying my head in the sand. Im trying to say, imo, that it could do better at no or little cost to itself. They may have millions of customers already but they might have millions more if they did not appear to have this complete FU attitude.

There is actually a prepaid payment card you can get, which you can use to duck the credit card charges:

Mr O'Leary appears to have proven otherwise.
Every time some bad publicity about Ryanair goes off, (of which there is no shortage) they see a spike in bookings!
They create markets, they create jobs, they create business, they make lots & lots of money. Which is what a business is supposed to do.
Customer Service - which I agree with you, should be parmaount in ANY business, & always has been in mine - does not seem to impact on Ryanair's bottom line though. The fact is, they go more places, cheaper, & more punctually, than any other comparable airline. Which gives them yields other airlines can only dream about.
BA pride themselves on looking after their punters, but they don't make any money, & have been off the Dividend List for about 8 of the last 10 years, iirc.
Ryanair's Dublin-based rivals, Aer Lingus, are busto.
Ryanair are now proposing to return surplus cash to Shareholders.

Stu. You know I love you but I think you may be talking a big pile of gash here.
How many times have we flown to places? How many times has it been with Ryanair?
I don't know the exact numbers but it's quite a lot. Every time we have a little moan and a laugh at the idiots rushing to get to the front of the queue and that's part of the Ryanair experience.
Every place we've travelled to has had a none Ryanair option available and we've always gone with them anyway.
Why do we always fly with Ryanair? Because they're awesome. Moan about the little things as much as you like but you'll still keep flying with them because they are great at what they do.
You say that there's a few things they could do better. Well you're right maybe they could but I can't see it making any difference to their customer numbers at all.
Would you fly with them any more often if they moved their card charges to the hide them with the flight itself? Would you use them more often if they let you pre book your seat? I don't think you would because the simple fact is you fly with them all the time anyway unless there's a cheaper option available.
If a committed hater such as yourself is using them every single time they are the cheapest available what's the point changing anything in their business model?
