exposing hands during game ?

Was playing in a cash game when this situation occurred.



3 players in a raised pot
Player 1 goes all in on a low flop all same suit.
Player 2 folds
Player 1 now exposes one overcard to the board not of the same suit.
Player 2 makes a fuss to the pit boss saying he has given player 3 an advantage which he was not given.
Pit boss rules the hand stands and its up to player 3 to call or fold which he folds.
All cards mucked.

Q1 , is this a legitimate move in cash poker when it gets to heads up ?
Q2 , is this move applicable to tournaments ?

Was in a dealer dealt tourney recently when a player on the river goes all in putting the decision on the last person left. As he is deciding whether to call or not he exposes both cards , a few seconds later the supervisor turns up and says exposing your cards means you are cards are dead.Similar situation but different ruling.I don't have a TV so don't watch any TV poker which is where i guess these kids have picked up the moves from . Any ideas ?

Q1, sure..it's HU in a cash game, you can do whatever you want really.

Q2, no in a tourney it's not allowed, as far as I know

Q2 depends on which venue and which rules

At a lot of venues he's held to "no aggressive action" when he exposes a card/cards. The fact that this is deliberate here would usually lead to a penalty being applied after the hand (time away from table etc)

At most venues the hand isn't dead.

For 20 odd years, pre internet and proper rules that could be referred to, most if not all cardrooms in the UK used the double the call method to raise. Dealers from the Rainbow were sent over to the Merrion and they sent dealers back for their festivals etc. that is why it is still like it in Ireland. As explained in another thread, some places adapted and modernised to the correct rules, some places have their own medieval house rules.

From the OP in min raise thread, he says the place he played made it 2400 so correct, I am assuming that acc2020 is either an older player or has played regular in "an older" cardroom.

2, Of the dozens of casinos i've played in i've never seen a penalty applied in either cash or tornie.Is it a southern ruling as  I've only played in casinos north of Birmingham , mainly north west of UK

3, I wouldn't call myself old , but old enough to look silly in a hooded tracksuit like some of the younger kids.

4, Yes i used to play in older card rooms where the were more older players

And is one of the most ridiculous rules in poker! Well. I call it a rule. I'm not entirely sure it exists in any respected rule sets...
