Hi Peeps, I am thinking of going to Vegas for my 40th birthday in January along with some DTD regulars - does anyone know of any good flight/accomodation deals for around then?

Also, best cash games, best card room etc? I'm not really into coin-flipaments but my mates love them so a mixture of the two would be good. I hear the Venetian has a decent deepstack tourney.

Never been before for poker so I'm a bit green about where to go. Will want to play equivalent 50p/£1 or £1/£2 games with competitive rake - not bankrolled after flights for much else but even at these stakes I would hope to have some fun and hopefully win a few dollars.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you are flexible with dates try and go for Superbowl Sunday.

The whole town is buzzing all weekend.

Incred atmosphere for the game, you'll never experience anything like it.

Here's a recent Vegas advice thread - there are others about if you search.

Everywhere will run $1/$2 games. Any tourney under $100 buyin is basically a shovefest.

I always use kayak.com for flights - not bad direct at mo at end of month around £600, US Airways with a stop only 80 quid cheaper.  This sites good for hotels, they change daily based on which site has rebates, I usually check daily until I see a good price to about 5 weeks pre - then you need to get on.  Try fatwallet as well, they have "card deals" you can just get the player card when you arrive if you see a good one

Stop-overs are good to keep the price down but NEVER use US Airways. The seats are tiny and service awful.

I went in Jan once, it was fkin freezing, make sure u don't go ready for dessert weather. What kind of dessert has fkin snow? Keith's right, even if u don't like American football (I don't really), the whole atmosphere will be great. I watched it in New York with Karl Mahrenholz n Nick Gibson a few years ago and we even got signed up to play in the halftime game which was basically held in the middle of a road. They don't seem to have much need for props in that game tho
