To be fair to him, it is reported that he resigned and tore up his own contract and received no compensation
Not that he needs the money I don't suppose, but quite refreshing to see that
Do you still think he's a good manager?
Well, I thought he had a rough press at Celtic compared to the job he did (three titles in four years), and before that had a decent record at Southampton and Coventry (compare him at both compared to what followed at both)
At Coventry he kept them up for four seasons, I think.
At Southampton he took over a team in the bottom three of the PL, and finished 11th, and the Cup final a year later
Clearly though his non-performance at Middlesborough, and in particular his strategy of filling the team with Scottish imports who either didn't settle or weren't good enough, has been a severe dent to his reputation, such as it was
Middlesborough have a superb academy system, with many 17-19 year olds coming through, so its a good job for someone
What Strachan does have a record of is being unpopular with fans everywhere he has been towards the end of each tenure as we can see from a Coventry fan on this thread and celtic fans on this board going back 3 years
So, unfashionable as it may seem, I would maintain that his record is far better than his PR suggests.
