My click wheel Ipod has stopped working and i wondered if anyone knows if it can be rescued.
When i plugged it into the incar holder i have (plays thru the stereo) it was starting songs then skipping to the next and so on.
I reset it and ALL the songs disappeared from it, but navigation thru the menus was ok.
So this morning i plugged it into my puter and it is completely frozen (with the charging icon on the screen) and i can't reset it, or anything else for that matter and the puter doesn't recognise it.
Bloody annoying, i haven't even dropped it, it just gave up.
sniff sniff

what you expect from apple

seemingly the ipods have a life expectancy of 1year to 18 months

they hope that people invest in new improved ones around this time so wont notice

Mine did that and eventually showed a picture of a dead ipod so I threw it on the floor and it started working again! If its still in warranty (standard 1 year) then take it back as soon as there is a problem and they give you a new one!

Just replaced my 3rd gen one with the new video one and I love it!!

4th Gen 20 Gig iPod still working after 2yrs and a bit. If it freezes/mucks about, hold Play+Menu for 5 secs for a soft reset. Usually sorts it out. But yeah, formatting and updating firmware is always another good one to try. Oh yeah, DONT USE ITUNES. Goto http://www.ipodlounge.com for good (better) 3rd party iPod software. EphPod is the best programme out there imo.

Good luck!!

Hope this is of help but the old throw the ipod about trick seems to work , or you can just leave it on charge with a proper charger for a while and it should work . other than that you have yourself an amazing laptop music storage device. Thats the path of my ipod mini. i hear the creative zen is good haha

Anyone frustrated with having to mess about with the volume on their ipod?
I found a nifty FREE program that normalises all your tracks so they all play at the same volume!!
