A little more visibility on why FIFA wants to go to new territories

They are not interested in World Cup Ready countries. After all, England could host a World cup now-ish...the facilities, transport, stadia etc are all ready

Reading this morning that FIFA itself appoints the sub contractors for the stadia/infrastructure build in the winning countries and in effect takes an affiliate cut of the payment to the contractors

So the fact that Russia is not ready, that Qatar needs to build 9 stadiums (and, that Brazil has to build stadia and airports near those stadia as the venues are in far flung places this time) is an advantage to their bids.....

Meaning the technical reports/scoring/process is a complete waste of time....

Oh and of the Russian bid to provide nationwide transport for free? Really? That is if your interpretation of free is arriving at said free train platform and having to pay a 10,000 Rouble kickback to official meathead on the door of the train!!!!

why would you have to do this?

It's fine that they want to take it to new countries but i'd prefer if it was a team that had a chance of qualifying without hosting and if they would tell countries not to bother bidding if you've already had it.

Because Russia just became a 3rd world country for winning the vote. Someone on Talk Radio said they needed to concentrate on feeding their people instead of hosting football tournaments.

England owed them for 66 anyway.

I agree with this. FIFA may believe their desire to take football to new frontiers is an admirable one. And maybe it is. But if that's the criteria for selection then why allow a country like England to waste a lot of time and money submitting a bid? England topped the ratings in every criteria that FIFA itself presented to bidding nations. So to be told that the agenda they've been working hard to fulfill isn't actually the agenda at all makes the whole process a farce. And anyway this isn't how sport works. The team that outscore the opposition in every area win the day, they don't finish stone last. FIFA have picked the fat kid first and left the most talented player at the back of the queue. They might think this is a sound decision but it's definitely not a sporting decision.

If it is true that FIFA gets a cut from the construction contracts that may have something to do with it.

Jack Warner blames the media for costing England the World Cup...."Fifa could not have voted for England having been insulted by their media in the worst possible way."

FIFA are entrusted to regulate football and make decisions that are in the best interests of the game. And in this instance it's widely recognised England had the best bid. So what FIFA are actually saying is they will reject good decisions on behalf of football if the free press in a bidding country has the audacity to criticise them. They will choose a lesser option to spite that country simply because that country allows free speech. Such childish words imo and no foundation for correct decision making. Playing football in the park as a kid there was one spoilt brat who owned the ball and he'd pick it up and go home if you gave him too much stick. Hello Jack Warner.
