I am alone in thinking personalised number plates are a disgusting egotistical extravagance in the current state Britain is in.

It would seem not.

I don't see it being any different to someone purchasing a piece of jewellery with their name engraved on it, or something similar.

Neither do I - it's all a bit common. See also people who have their own names tattooed on themselves.

Why's it any different to paying for clothing from a designer label?

It's certainly no different from buying designer clothers that have G-STAR RAW or similar written in big letters. I've never understood why people willingly pay companies to turn themselves into walking billboards - these companies are geniuses.

It's a good discussion this as I've said everybody is diff
Look at tikay and his train spotting
Look at people who play football or go to games to watch them
It's all to do with what pleases you
Belive it or not I've never owned a numberplate
That I could say aaahhh this is mine only because the one I'd want if I wanted one
Would be a bit expensive for me To be honest I can't think of a numberplate
I would want, I do like the funny ones like ones I have owned but never put on cars
As I sell them for profit I did like
U GO 2 BAR cheap £2,500
I did like BIUFF but there was £4k earned in a few hours kev knew this
Everyone is diff we all like diff things

I put this post up about numberplates a while ago
Saying to blonde members if u hit the right plate there is a lot of
Money to be made
I know there are some clever people on blonde and I thought they might want to dable in a few
Which from the emails and pmd over the last few months some blondes have
And are still searching for diff combinations
It's just they choose not to put it out in the open
To get slated by some members,me I really don't care
I speak my mind and say it how it is
And if I sell one to a blonde member then so be it
You guys must remember blonde is a great place for advice and chatting and also
A bit of banter
All good fun,.,.,...,,
Anyway just had a text on my spare mobile offering me £20,000 for FLUSHY
So if it's one of you P1550ff lol,.,..,,

The point about buying expensive designer clothes in cool shops is valid. So it's ok to buy a cool and expensive number plate. But if you've gotta start putting in black screws at various spots and messin about with spacing to try and create new letters that don't even look right then that's like buying a fake lacoste jumper down the pub.

Or mixing upper and lower case letters... which was the point of my earlier post.

Yes, I know the 1s look like lower case Ls, but nobody writes like that - normally!

Cristiano Ronaldo buys CR7 for £150k  http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/celebrity-news/271232/cristiano-ronaldo-pays--150-000-for-personalised-number-plate/1/

The guy bought it for £400

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4857110.stm

Guy spends more the £100k on number plates

What got me thinking how many footballers would snap buy a number plate for £5k i have now over 20 that match

hers  few that look ok but im not going to use

Didier Drogba (shirt number 11) CFC

the only thing with high rollers like drogba etc is that they will pay £1,00000000000 as money is nothing to them so if soeone offered them
DROGBA FOR £200K OR DOG8A FOR £2K THEY WOULD PAY £200K AND HAVE IT

YOU HAVE TO MEET IN THE MIDDLE WITH A MIDDLE PUNTER IF YOU GET MY DRIFT

i went to by DR06BAS   and changed my mind thenwhen i went to buy it ,,,it was gone lol.,.,.

ive got one now im thinking of buying but to be honest im not sure im 50/50 obv im not gonna say wht this one is coz people will either but it or laugh at it,...,im thinking about it.,.,.,its £599.,.,.,any backers wanna put up the £££ if they dont like it i will get them a refund 10 days to decide.,.,we go 50/50..,

I fully understand what you are saying, but mixing upper and lower case letters in a word it is not how [most] people write.

My mate bought a pretty cool plate a few years ago, still got it in fact, keeps telling me it's worth £20k+

He's got it on his shitty Pegeout 305 at the moment. A car worth £900. So ghey.
