I read this site every day but have hardly ever posted.

The site gives me hours of free information and entertainment especially the live updates by TightEnd, the latest one was outstanding.

I understand there will be a changing relationship with DTD in January and TightEnd mentioned that live updates would end I presume because of the changing relationship along side funding issues this brings.

It would be a crying shame if these updates ended. If funding for the cost of updates, expenses etc could be found, would DTD be open to updates continuing on Blonde?

I'd be happy to put £50 in the kitty towards update costs. If there were 100 other members averaging £50 each, there would be £5,000 in the kitty. Maybe it's much more complicated than just funding?

I'd been thinking about this for a while and was prompted by getting my season ticket renewal through from Hillsborough at £430 for watching sh!te League One football every other week. £50 towards Blonde update costs seems like great value to me.

Is there any appetite for donations from members to keep these updates running?

thank you for the post

As far as DTD updates are concerned, the first issue is do DTD want us to do them? If the answer is yes its whether they are prepared to fund them or not. If not, I need to fund them or do them for free.

As far as non DTD updates (GUKPT etc) are concerned, its a simple funding issue.

We used to do a full slate of events, but couldn't afford them from late 09 onwards.

Since, we've done a few with the help of benefactors. I've done some voluntarily.

I'd prefer to do them because blondes are supporting our sponsors and as a result we are earning enough money to support them, but if not then a kitty would allow us to keep them going.

Cost wise a one person DTD update is £350 or so for a weekend, two people £600

a 4 day GUKPT assuming travel and hotel is required, and two updaters to do it properly £1300-1400 or so. One person £650-700 or so (3-4 hotel nights being the major issue)

As Tighty,Tikay and Sharples know i would happily contribute maybe anyone who is interested in doing so should post on here with the amount they are committed to.
I would happily put in £100 earth pounds for next year payable in cash  $$ or transfer
Personally i think the Deepstack weekends should be catered for 1st as that's where the majority of ppl on here play? but if enough was raised do the GUKPT circuit too.

A question probs only tighty or tikay can answer though    Do you need permission to do these updates or if we raised enough money can you just rock up and do your thing?

Surely we can raise enough to at least cover the DTD events next year!!

Need permission from any venue, first, hence my point about DTD above. I wouldn't just rock up. I hope DTD continue them anyway, in which case any money raised would go to non DTD events

As to GUKPTs, I know that there is unlikely to be a problem with permission

DTD pay, so we do others for free...

Doesn't seem quite fair to me.

I reckon we can get a blonde kitty together. Sooo many members and more who read these updates - they are a massive part of blonde.

I'm in.

Was going to say exactly the same as Red Dog though - would like to see some of this funding for DTD events. Love the monthly £300 updates as there's so many blondes that play it and DTD is the schnuts.

That's what I thought, can't blame Rob for not buying in to this one.

There are def efficiencies In the process and I have already emailed my ideas to tighty on that. I have also had another great idea to improve the system which again I will send to tighty tonight!

I hope dtd would allow blonde to update the 300s as that is where there is the most immediate interest, as in more blonde regs play the than a 1k!  However I can absolutely see Reasons why they wouldn't and I guess you couldn't blame them if they do.

I think this situation will sort itself by a natural evolution, but new ideas can always help the evolutionary chain.

yeah it wasn't exactly what I meant, I expressed it clumsily

I'd like DTD to contiinue funding them. At the moment thats all the live updates we do. If not any money raised or earned by us would go to DTD updates first

As to extra live updates, and I have tried, the casinos won't pay for them. I know this is a reasonable concern of Rob's as he has helped blonde out in far more ways than any of the other providers of live events will ever do

So for the 12 DTD £300 updates a year, you'd need a minimum of £3k?

Surely we should be able to manage that between us?

Assuming DTD allow us to update, and its a one person update, once a month then £3,000 is about right

Community funding of the live updates makes a lot of sense actually

But really £6000k is needed as the updates work much better with 2 people as the guys cant be walking around and typing at the same time!
Lets shoot for the stars and see what we get as opposed to just getting 3k and tighty left on his own all weekend unless any blondes who have busted out take up some of the strain!
