It was my birthday on Friday. 38 ffs, nearly as old as sicilidonk and chompy, not quite though. Went to see my dad in the morning and we went to the cemetry. Ran him around a few shops that he needed to go to and headed back home to get ready for my night out to see the Jersey Boys.
Been wanting to see this for a few years now, the music was, maybe still is constantly played in the lifts in the venetian, and I used to enjoy it. It never inspired me to book tickets to go though!
So, Kirsty had kindly booked two tickets for me, and I decided that as she booked them, she could come with me
I'm so kind....
Jumped on a tube to Leicester Square early, so we could go to the box office and pick the tickets up, and then wandered around Soho and Charing Cross road, looking at all the posh restaurants, with their little portions and big prices. Eventually, I settled for a little Italian restaurant that I had heard of before, thought that was safer! It was called Pizza Hut
Left there and headed for the theatre, I'm quite a fan of going to the theatre, don't know why, it's not really something that people who know me would associate me with. The show itself was great, loads of songs that I knew, and some that I knew, but didn't realise they were Frankie Valli songs. Quite an interesting and quite funny story too, which helps fill the gaps in between the songs.
The guys that played the parts of Bob Gaudio & Frankie Valli had superb voices.
Someone like Tikay might be able to let us know how good they actually were....
That's extraordinary. I have to go see that, now.
It was very evocative to listen to. I would be about 12 or 14 when they rose to fame, & they were - to my ears, at the time - the greatest thing ever ever ever. I knew all the words, still do, to "Wallk Like a Man", "Sherry", "Big Girls Don't Cry".
I had a quite awful stammer at the time, but, hard to believe this, when I "sung", the stammer disappeared. If I wanted to be "excused" to go to the toilet during school classes, I had to sing, I kid you not, "Miss, I want to go to wee, want to go to wee, want to go to wee". Which sounds hilarious, & amused all the other kids, but it was far from it. Ugh at the horror of those days, but it worked out OK in the end. Damn you for reminding me. Sort of.
I really have to go see that. I think I'll blub all the way through it.

It's brilliant Tony, I'm crap at expressing just how good it was. Make sure you find the time to see it. Well worth it.

Learned fk all new the last two days. I must be too clever
You, for example, clever to a fault. The rough and ready man who writes apace, reads somewhat seldomer, thinks perhaps even less.
Robert Browning.
Sounds a bit like me I suppose. Nice work.
Some good banter you have posted this week Mr McGreedy.
Is Mrs Red-Dog helping you with it?
I only target the thick...... skinned.
Mrs Red does have her moments. This is a copy of a letter she sent to the lady who holds the expenses purse-strings. (Gothic font, edged in black).
Dear Colleagues,
It is with sincere regret that I have to inform you of the sad demise of my dear devoted, dedicated friend and co-worker, Mr Epson Stylus Esq.
Who, after seven long, hard-working gruelling years, has shuffled off his mortal coil and printed his final full stop.
He leaves behind a computer, an ink cartridge and two unopened packs of A4 paper.
Whilst going through his personal effects, I came across a faded document, which states that he was in fact born in the USA. He immigrated to Argos Uk some years later. He has one surviving relative there, a Mr Epson Stylus Sx515w.
If we could raise the funds (some £71.88p) to secure Mr Sx515w’s release from his current position, he would be most willing to take over from his erstwhile predecessor.
Yours in anticipation ~ your most humble servant
M McCready.

I saw The Kings Speech the other day and thought of you Tony. Why don't you go and see it? You could take that bird you saw Dagenham with.

I might just.
I'd really like to talk more about those dark days. If School Teachers behaved like that now, they'd be sent to prison for "bullying", lol, but it just toughens you up for the life ahead, assuming you have a spine. I hated them for it, with a passion, but it was a wonderful thing for me, really. But they never did it for that reason, they were just mocking, the fuckers. 1-1.

Did it really once contain cocaine?

Spent the last couple of days chauffering my dad around after work, which is fine, I enjoy it and it gets him out. Watched Barca v Arsenal & Tottenham v Milan with him too. I don't have Sky, so it gives him some company, and me a chance to watch the games I wouldn't normally watch. Win/Win.
He goes to Malta on Monday for 2 weeks, think he is sort of looking forward to it.

My internet is shite, well, its not mine, I linked to a neighbour who very kindly left it unsecured. I normally use a dongle, but have leant it to my dad as he is between isp's atm, so I have reverted back to stealing the internet from my neighbour. If its this bad tomorrow I may have to go and complain to him/her whoever it is.
