The atmosphere was electric tikay, the room was buzzing and you don't usually experience this sort of think in England. It's pretty similar to the buzz you get in Irish comps and one of the reasons I enjoy playing there so much.

Very well played Vin. Hope you get up here more often now

You did your best to ruin the atmosphere by winning every bloody pot and bullying everyone.  Smiley
That pot we were both in and the flop comes jack high was the only bad hand I saw you play.  When Dave re raises the 10 on the turn he has us both in bad shape.

Ireland has been my nut favourite place to play poker.

Beats England and even Vegas by miles. Everyone having fun, playing the game in the spirit it should be played. Love the Irish.

In live poker, 2 or 3 people usually irritate me hugely but in 3 trips to Ireland I haven't had one person annoy me or a bad table.

Actually, for how Tikay knocks alcohol the Irish (when I've been) seem to be a great example of how to consume alcohol. Drink it by the bucket but don't turn into pricks.

Yes big plus one. In Ireland if they suffer a bad beat they just say "let's have a drink in the bar". I never see any animosity or bad feeling at all.

The 2 most fun cash games ive ever played were dublin and galway

the galway one was amazing - there was an all in every hand for 45 minutes, it was incredible - so much joviality

I agree with all of this....they have fun, don't talk utter shite about hands, take beats with grace and have fun - makes such a difference.  So much prefer to anywhere in the UK.

The GSOP have the same feel to - the ongame series. Played Prague and Old Trafford and a great bunch of Euro sat qualifiers who just have fun - and not great either. Got to p,at poker with a smile on your face

Complete standstill on the m25, following huge diversions on the m1 south, following 1k loss at the pokerz. If i don't see AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010, or AK ever again, I wouldn't be too bothered. / report.

I don't knock alcohol as such, as those who cannot hold their ale, & get aggro after a few mild ales, & start prodding me, & spraying me with their filthy saliva as they attempt to slur. I'd be surprised if anyone enjoyed that, to be honest. "Funny drunks" I love.

Ireland? Agree. It's one of the nut fun places to play poker, & I've never had a spot of bother with unruly drunkards in Ireland. I've played in Dublin at The Merrion (now long closed), Fitzwilliam, Sporting Emporium (vey nice), Jackpot Club, & away from Dublin, at Galway, Cork, + 2 pretty iffy spielers in Belfast. Poker in Ireland is generally played with a smile - as it should be.

Think of all the drunks I have ever met in Poker, and there have been a few, only 1 has been pleasant, the rest can GTF. Although, to be fair, there are some pretty obnoxious sober ones too that have no excuse for their behaviour. Never played in Ireland, but can imagine it's probably better as they are professional drinkers, with years of experience in playing and drinking at the same time. Wink

I doubt I will ever catch up with you Raymondo, It doesn't surprise you have x amount more views than me. We will never catch up with the great diaries though, you know, the ones that talk about cement, buses and chicks with dicks...

If I had to give January a nickname, It would be 'Knocking it in January'. If I was paid to knock it in, then I would be a very wealthy man. After all, It's what I have specialised in. I thought it might have just been a hangover from my failure to convert at DTD, but on reflection, it isn't. I've just ran horribly. I've made mistakes too, discussed a few hands afterwards, but of all the pots I have been in in the last ten days or so, the mistakes add up to less than 5, and were not for really significant amounts in the grand scheme of things.

After the 1k loss of last tuesday, I decided to play the £50 f/o at Luton. Played well til 12 left, then spannered some chips when I really didn't have to, it left me short for the final, and my AJ couldn't outdraw KQ for a double up, departing 10th for no money.

Jumped in the cash game at 2am and quickly turned £200 into minus £520. Decided I wasn't pulling up anymore and grinded the £80 up to £900, then 4 handed ran KK into J 10, AK into KK and 99 into KJ on a 9x10xQ board. Was pleased and annoyed to end the session £7 down. Marvellous.
