A friend of mine had exactly same problem constant disconnections so he banned hisself from the site
I'd rather just resolve the issue or have him not play there anymore but good to know it's not only my dad its happening to
Hi, I have seen a few threads on the Technical Queries board over on
Sky
Poker
asking for help on similar issues. A few of us have tried to help out, with occasional success. My first question would be is your dad accessing
Sky
Poker
over a wireless connection?
At work at the moment on my mobile but I'll check the thread later.
Hi Aaron,
Many thanks for your help.
Yes we do use a wireless internet connection at home.
Cheers,
Cos

In that case the first thing I would do is to take the wireless network out of the equation. I have found that the
Sky
Poker
software to be reliant on a solid connection and throws up a network error box at the first sign of a network blip.
Is it possible to connect the laptop to the router / modem directly using an ethernet cable? One usually comes with the router. I'm not sure how techie you are so not sure what to explain. You should be able to plug the ethernet cable into the laptop and into the router, disable the wireless on the laptop and the internet should be working so you can play on
Sky
Poker
for a while and see if it still has the network errors.
Another thing to try while still on wireless is run a speedtest and pingtest at:
www.speedtest.net
and
www.pingtest.net
Speed isn't really all that important but the ping stats will be. I've just run a test on mine and got:
Packet loss should be zero and the other figures should be low too.

That's really bad.
Packet loss should be zero and if it's not then there is some sort of problem.
I do ocassionally get the unable to test packet loss error so either try it again over the next day or so or manually pick a server to run the test on.
When you load the pingtest website instead of clicking the big Begin Test button hover over the green star and pick Newbury or Maidenhead and see if the pingtest runs sucessfully from those.

Tried it several times from each server still no joy.

Despite saying before that failing the packet test is terrible there may be a logical reason behind it. When I recently had my Virgin Media cable modem upgraded I too would fail the packet test. It was due to a setting on the cable modem called "Flood Control" which stopped lots of the same message being sent to it. In this case the ping test is trying to send 250 messages which my modem just ignored until I switched Flood Control off.
You could have a dig around your ADSL modem settings, I presume, and see if there is a similar setting.
On a positive note the other figures for ping and jitter are great!

Current Jackpot total £5800
Win the Main Event and Mini Event to win big!
Sky Poker are offering a new Jackpot prize for anyone who wins our Main Event at 8pm and the Mini Main Event at 8:15pm on the same night.
The first winner of the jackpot prize is Dylan 'dylan12' Davies. Dylan won the 8pm Bounty Hunter and 8.15pm Mini Bounty Hunter on the 19th September 2011 to scoop £1718 in winnings plus the jackpot of £6,500! That's £8,218 in cash for a buy-in total of £25.30.
For each week that goes by that nobody wins the Jackpot, we will add another £100 to the prize pool, so there is some serious cash to be had! When somebody wins the prize fund, the Jackpot total will be reseeded back to £5000.
To enter:
- Register and play the Main Event at 8pm
- Register and play the corresponding Mini Event at 8:15pm the same evening
- Win the 8pm Main Event and the 8:15pm Mini Event in the same evening and you will win the Jackpot
£1000 Consolation Prize
We will give away £1000 to anyone who wins the Main Event at 8pm and final tables the Mini Event.
Main Events and Mini Events Schedule for tonight
Monday: 8pm £10,000 Bounty Hunter & 8:15pm £1200 Mini Bounty Hunter.

Technically, I believe the list would be, logically, identical. I was able to play from the USA, though, & possibly many other domains, but I fancy the official reply would be as per "where you can create an Account for". As a Company, SB&G are a bit socks up to the knees on these things.
Here's what the relevant page actually says.
We accept customers based in any of the following countries:
United Kingdom
Ireland
Bulgaria
Cyprus
Finland
Gibraltar
Greece
Sweden
Due to our products/services being prohibited and/or restricted by local laws we do not currently accept new accounts from any other countries.
