Public transport is so tilting! Best way to train it from Gatwick to Cambridge is to go into London Victoria, underground to kings cross and then it's an easy 45min nonstop service to Cambridge. Apparently. Get to kings cross to find it's not working today, so had to trek all the way over to Liverpool street with all my stuff, and I count my lucky stars that I'm just in time for a train. oh no, it's TOO FULL for me and a load of others to get on!! What is this?!?!
Never not driving to/from airport again!
You noob. Tell me you didn't get the Gatwick Express?
No I got a standard train to Victoria which worked fine, as did the tube to kings x. Kings cross itself had some problems however....
Am now STANDING on an absolutely packed train which will get me home in 50minutes apparently. Feeling very snobby right now. Where's my BMW?!

ThsamesLink run direct trains from Brighton to Bedford, via Gatwick & St Pancras, which is, effectively, the same as Kings Cross.
Still, always worth breaking a train journey up into as many different trains as possible, I always think. Did you know the the Victoria Line trains do not need drivers? Automatic.
Ther DLR is all automatic too, no drivers needed, but here's a thing - the front cabs have
windscreen wipers
. Why would that be?

In which case you are forgiven. The Gatwick 'Express' is one of my pet peeves. I'm just going to have a brief rant then I'll quieten down...
From their website...
"With a timetable departure of every 15 minutes, and with a
journey time of just 30 minutes
, Gatwick Express is the favourite way to get to and from London Gatwick Airport."
I mean, technically it's more often 32mins, but even letting that slide, it costs £18.90
The 'slow' train takes 36mins. Just four minutes more, and at £13.50 it is £5.40 cheaper.
4 minutes of your time to pay 28.5% less. (This ignores that you can also use any Railcard you may possess on the 'Slow' trains, and there are 'off peak' times...)
Just feels wrong every time I hear/see a visitor to the country getting rinsed by for a ticket and they are unaware of the alternatives. Mind you, I suppose caveat emptor and all that.

god I could literally rage on for pages and pages on the subject of public transport.
I think it would be fantastic if they could just keep the public off it.
How you do in November?

Could you please consider doing so on my Diary, David? I'm rather fond of Public Transport matters, photos especially.
I don't use it much - obv - after all, "fit for purpose" means it should be limited to use by public peoples.

Had a really hilarious night out last night! Arrived in cambridge 6pm, said hi to my Dad briefly then drove straight up to Notts and was in Hooters by 9, with usual suspects, Keith, Mitch, Jack, Stato, PJ and Thigh had birthdays recently to celebrate, and Ian Gascoigne made a celebrity appearance and very kindly treated us to dinner with all his winnings from DTD
the stock exchange
! All you can eat chicken wings devoured, plenty of booze sunk and then hit a couple of bars, had some manly french martini's (pictured below), lots of shots, and didn't lose a flip so the whole thing was free.
Except for the taxi I had to get back ALONE at 230 am
I think it's cos I'd been up at 8am UK time and travelled by train, plane, train, tube x3, train, taxi, then driving 2 hours, but the drink went totally to my head and I really couldn't take anymore. Annoying cos was having loads of fun and hate bailing on a good night. I used to struggle with holding my drink when I first started going out with this lot, but it's been at least 2 years since I got in that state at 230.
And now obv I'm randomly awake at 10am
