Last day in Cornwall. It's been pretty great but I'm getting the bug to play again quite strong today. We played a jokes freeroll game last night with monopoly money (not my idea ftr) and it was a really good laugh. But apart from that it's been over a week without poker which for me is a long time. Not had a break this long since Christmas! Sounds a bit sad cos it's only like 9 days but I really wanna play again.

Back in cambs early this morning. Drove back at night to avoid the sat morning traffic. Would've been a great idea were it not for the pouring rain and thick fog rendering driving above 50 extremely hazardous! I was asleep in the back so didn't affect me too much fortunately. 6 or 7 hours door to do I think.

My best friend from school, Richard, is having a welcome home party tonight. He's been in New Zealand for a year teaching music. He graduated from Oxford last june and has been there ever since. We kept in touch pretty well but have loadsnto catch up on - he's a massive legend and it's gonna be sweet to see him and a few old mates again. Will be interesting their take on what I do now. Last time we were all together was over a year ago. I was going back to uni with the intention of completing a Maths degree. The Monte Carlo bink is a nice way of sort-of validating my career choice I think. Even without it I think I have a decent amount of profit to show for my first 10months or so, but still...

Richards mates from Oxford will be there too, hope I don't get grilled too much! They can be very opinionated and well, upper class in their views and opinions so it's gonna be an interesting night...

Last night was pretty decent. Had a really good laugh and catchup with school mates and met a few good lads from Oxford. Started drinking at like 6 and was just drinking beer which makes me really sleepy. Plus was short of sleep from the Cornwall drive home so was pretty knackered by midnight. People generally were very interested and openminded about the poker thing, asked plenty of questions and seemed pretty jealous to be honest. My mate Will who's just grad'd from PPE at Oxford said he's gonna be busting his arse doing 100 hour weeks in the city to earn 40k a year so was seriously envious about the monte Carlo win. I think the young generation are much more openminded about everything than my parents generation, and than my grandparents' even more so.

My friend Oscar, yes, Oscar, has just finished his 3rd year doing medicine at UCL and was really refreshing hearing him talk with such passion and enthusiasm about his degree. He's defo gonna be an awesome doctor. I've never come across anyone who loves their degree as much as he does, most see it as a total grind. Having said that some if my mates have achieved some seriously impressive stuff at uni.

Looking back the only regret I have is my subject choice. It's clear now that Music would've been a better choice. I chose to follow my brain rather than my passion and it was a mistake. Hopefully I'll rediscover music at some point in the near future. Even though life is pretty fkn great atm, I dont wanna play poker forever.

Just arrived in notts, back on the grind for a week before Italy on the 20th, cant wait Cheesy

surely you have chosen a path that absolutely lets you follow your musical passions?

trust me if you were 9-5ing you would be in an accountants/doctors/lawyers music society and networking

this is something which you should max out on now!

you have really got me thinking this morning.

if you dont want to play poker forever, what do you want to do? If you want  a profession my sincerest advice would be jack in the poker now and get into your chosen profession and get up the ranks with your peers. Late starters very rarely make it high up in professional life (I'm obv not saying you cant, but you do the hard work in your twenties).

I would imagine that what you are doing now should lead you to a free thinking way of life. Set up a small business, dont be tied to the 9-5?

what are your long term goals and aims? Have you thought about it?

Not really thought about it. My long term goals and aims for the moment are to do with having a wife n kids someday. I wanna achieve things in the poker world and maybe one day start a business in the poker world or in something else. I'm happy right now and have no plans at all to change. Just gonna see what happens.

Stato and I have plans to be pro DJs this year as well. Brrrrup
