What would you say are the biggest changes you have made in the past year?

Is there anything in particular you have done to avoid the emotional tilt side?

I guess having a decent bankroll makes it way easier to deal with stuff. It's hard when you lose 400 out of a 3k roll to be like "oh well, I played well" and walk home merrily. When everything in your life outside of poker is good and secure it makes dealing with poker swings much easier. It hasn't made me any more blase about losing money though. I was pretty annoyed at myself the other night. I had won 950 on 1/2 playing really good and running well. The game broke early and I went and played 50/1 for the last hour and donked off 200quid playing stupid, and I was pissed off at myself for that, even though +750 is a good result for the night. On the other hand, I can lose 500 in a night and still go home happy if I've played well and had fun etc. I think I've got a lot better at detaching my emotions from the financial results of any given hand or session and that is very important.

Having friends that don't show any sympathy has probably helped actually. And nobody on here really bothers to comment/sympathise about running bad so I just realised that there's no point bitching/moaning about it to other people because they experience it all themselves and just get on with it. I have some really good role models around me and I think they've had a lot to do with my improvement on that front. This diary has also been an enormous help with all the advice I've been given through it. I think I've just grown up a lot this last year. Still have hints of the immature/cocky alex though Tongue

Almost never. Occasionally have a £20 spin on roulette if I'm waiting for a seat in a game and have 10 minutes to kill. The way I see it is that £20 is worth about £19.50 in EV or something similar, so I'm paying 50p in EV to be entertained for a few minutes. I bet on the world cup and euro's when they come round, usually just because I love watching it and I like to sweat a team in each match.

I do feel a bit sad that ppl really thought I was dumb enough to think that having an Ace meant I had a straight draw Sad

I'm gutted my "straight to the cash desk draw" didn't get more love, I genuinely thought that was really funny.

Unfair. If his Auntie had balls........

you're on thin Ice with me right now toopayyy constant rubs and ignoring my PM's Sad not too far off being uninvited to the Halloween party in vegas.

Noooooooooooooo!

The PM backlog is kiling me, sorry Dave, I'll get to it as soon as I can, but it's quite an awkward one to write.

By the bye, I LOVED your response to the Newbie who wanted a bit of advice with his mini-bankroll. Which, oddly, is "sort of" what I want to talk to you about, as to helping newbies.
