Alex is 4k your poker roll or your life roll too? As in if you go on a downswong and lose (which I hope doesnt happen) might you not be able to play .50/1 either?
Yeh its life roll as well. Say in next 6 weeks i dropped 15buyins at 50/1 and also spent £500 or 1k on living expenses then I'd have to either get staked for 50/1 or grind online. It's unlikely but quite possible. It would be annoying but I understand that with a small life/poker roll I have to be prepared for it and I think it's fine. With this strategy sooner or later I'll run really good at 1/2 and then be comfortably rolled for it. Have you got a job as well? no job. You will go broke at some point with that roll mate, sorry to say it but I don't in a any way wish it on you. A couple of bad months run bad and your living expenses on top of that and its game over. Good luck anyway. |

It's all about the hourly rate at the end of the day,
if you can play your own money and make £20 p/hour, or get staked and win £50 (then give half away ofc) then get staked.
Sometimes (and this happened to me for a bit last year) I had some huge financial commitments and was getting so stressed about it that I took a huge hit to my hourly to get backed for games I was rolled for just because it made me much happier and I could sleep at nights lol
like andy says tho live BRM is so huge because your hourly increase from stake to stake much more than online, online if you have a 1/2 roll (say a $40 hourly) and take a shot at 2/4 and 3/6 and it goes bad you have to drop to 50/1 where you have a $25 hourly it's not the end of the world. but the money ur costing urself not being rolled for 1/2 is likely to be £25~ an hour, which is just too big a hit imo. Indecently the same applies online anywhere +10/20
